igus showcases humanoid robots and AGVs through RBTX marketplace

May 14, 2026 by David Edwards

RBTX, the robotics marketplace operated by igus, used this year’s Hannover Messe 2026 to highlight what it described as the world’s widest range of humanoid robots available through a single robotics platform, alongside a growing portfolio of autonomous mobile robots and automated guided vehicles (AGVs).

Presented during igus’ annual corporate press conference at the event, the company positioned RBTX as a platform designed to simplify access to industrial automation by allowing manufacturers to explore, compare, test, and deploy robotics systems tailored to their operational requirements.

The marketplace combines humanoid robots, collaborative systems, and mobile automation technologies within a unified platform aimed at reducing the complexity traditionally associated with robotics integration. [Read more…] about igus showcases humanoid robots and AGVs through RBTX marketplace

Horse Powertrain installs Siemens AI inspection system to automate engine quality checks

May 14, 2026 by David Edwards

Horse Powertrain, an innovator of low-emission powertrain systems, has deployed the Siemens Inspekto Visual Inspection system at its Skövde engine production plant through its Aurobay Technologies division.

Powered by artificial intelligence (AI), the system automates quality checks at the engine inspection station, replacing a process previously performed by hand.

Engines arrive at the AI-powered inspection station via automated guided vehicles. A vision camera mounted on a collaborative robot performs defect analysis in a few seconds, storing all images to support traceable, searchable records across the production line. Sony achieves ‘major breakthrough’ with tennis-playing robot

May 14, 2026 by David Edwards

Sony AI has announced a “major breakthrough” in robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) with the publication of its project Ace, the first known real-world autonomous system competitive with elite and professional-level human table tennis players.

The research outlining the achievement, “Outplaying Elite Table Tennis Players with an Autonomous Robot” was published on the cover of Nature.

This marks the first time a robot has achieved human, expert-level play in a commonly played competitive sport in the physical world – a longstanding milestone for AI and robotics research. [Read more…] about Sony achieves ‘major breakthrough’ with tennis-playing robot

Smart Robotics raises €10 million to expand AI-driven warehouse robotics across Europe

May 14, 2026 by David Edwards

Dutch warehouse robotics company Smart Robotics has raised €10 million in Series A funding as it looks to expand its AI-driven robotic picking technology across Europe and strengthen its position in the fast-growing warehouse automation market.

The funding round was led by Rotterdamse Havendraken, with participation from Innovation Industries and Dutch family office Ernij Next.

Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Best, the Netherlands, Smart Robotics develops AI-based robotic pick-and-place systems for intralogistics operations. The company says it has deployed more than 120 systems across 15 countries and five industries, executing more than one billion successful robotic picks in live warehouse environments. Bot Auto completes driverless commercial truck delivery between Houston and Dallas

May 14, 2026 by David Edwards

Autonomous trucking company Bot Auto says it has completed what it describes as the first fully humanless commercial over-the-road truckload delivery in the United States, moving freight between Houston and Dallas without a driver, in-cab observer, or remote operator controlling the vehicle.

The Houston-based company said the autonomous truck completed a 230-mile overnight route from Riggy’s Truck Parking in northeast Houston to Safe Stop in Hutchins, south of Dallas, delivering a commercial shipment booked through logistics provider Ryan Transportation.

According to Bot Auto, the run was conducted without a safety driver onboard and without “low-latency remote human feedback”, which the company says differentiates the operation from earlier autonomous trucking demonstrations and pilot programs. Interview with Intrinsic’s Stefan Nusser: Traditional automation is ‘too expensive and too inflexible’

May 13, 2026 by David Edwards

For years, industrial automation followed a relatively stable formula: high-volume production, long product lifecycles, and robotic systems designed to repeat the same process millions of times with minimal variation.

That model helped transform industries such as automotive manufacturing, where fixed production lines and highly specialized robots delivered extraordinary efficiency at scale.

But manufacturing is changing. Product cycles are shorter, customization is increasing, and factories are under pressure to adapt more quickly to shifting demand and supply chain volatility. In many facilities, the traditional economics of automation no longer work as neatly as they once did. Expert opinion: Extending remote work to the factory floor through telepresence

May 13, 2026 by David Edwards

By Yonas Teodros Tefera, research team lead of the Vicarios Lab in the Department of Advanced Robotics at the Italian Institute of Technology

Remote work has largely been defined by office jobs. Video calls, shared documents, and digital collaboration tools have allowed knowledge workers to operate from almost anywhere. But for millions of workers in manufacturing, maintenance, logistics, and field operations, the idea of working remotely has remained out of reach.

That boundary is starting to shift.

Telepresence technologies are emerging as a way to extend remote work into hazardous and high-risk environments. By combining robotics, immersive interfaces and low-latency connectivity, these systems make it possible to interact with physical environments without being physically present. Why Disconnected Teams Are Silently Killing Your Retention, Says Ubitello Limited

May 13, 2026 by David Edwards

Two companies acquire users at the same cost, in the same market, with similar products. Twelve months later, one has 38% revenue retention and the other has 71%.

The product isn’t the variable. The marketing isn’t the variable. The variable, in nearly every case Ubitello Limited has examined, is whether the company’s growth, marketing, experience, and support functions operate as a connected system or as four separate departments politely sending emails to each other.

According to Ubitello, retention is the metric where organizational connectedness compounds – and the metric where disconnectedness silently destroys value. [Read more…] about Why Disconnected Teams Are Silently Killing Your Retention, Says Ubitello Limited

Zinelio Corp.’s Top Tips for Managing User Acquisition Without Losing Operational Control

May 13, 2026 by David Edwards

There’s a version of growth that looks great on paper and quietly wrecks a company from the inside.

It usually starts the same way: a business enters a new market – let’s say the U.S. – gains some momentum, starts pulling in users faster than expected, and then realizes too late that the back end of the operation wasn’t built to handle what the front end just promised.

Customer experience drops. Internal processes crack. The people running the show feel like they’re always three steps behind. [Read more…] about Zinelio Corp.’s Top Tips for Managing User Acquisition Without Losing Operational Control
