Wing and Walmart expand drone delivery network to seven new US metro areas

June 9, 2026 by Sam Francis

Drone delivery company Wing and retail giant Walmart are expanding what they describe as the largest residential drone delivery network in the United States, adding seven new metropolitan areas as they work toward a goal of reaching 40 million Americans by 2027.

The expansion will bring drone delivery services to Memphis, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Salt Lake City.

The move increases the companies’ planned service footprint to nearly 20 US markets and follows Walmart’s recent announcement that its drone delivery operations had surpassed one million deliveries. [Read more…] about Wing and Walmart expand drone delivery network to seven new US metro areas

AutoFlight advances heavy-lift eVTOL program with mixed-fleet formation flight

May 26, 2026 by Sam Francis

AutoFlight has completed a mixed-fleet formation flight of three aircraft, comprising one V5000 Matrix and two V2000-series eVTOL aircraft.

The mission validated critical capabilities – communication links, route planning, flight coordination and safety control – across 5-ton and 2-ton platforms, demonstrating that different aircraft types can operate together at scale.

It marks a significant step forward in AutoFlight’s system integration capabilities and lays the operational groundwork for multi-aircraft coordination in low-altitude logistics, emergency response, maritime support and regional air transport, and represents a concrete step toward the commercial deployment of coordinated multi-aircraft networks in the low-altitude economy. Flytrex opens drone manufacturing facility in Dallas

May 22, 2026 by Sam Francis

Flytrex, an autonomous drone food delivery service, has announced the opening of a drone manufacturing and maintenance facility in Pilot Point, Texas, as the company accelerates its push to build a network of 60 delivery sites across the Dallas-Fort Worth metro by mid-2027.

The facility – capable of assembling thousands of drones annually – will serve as the operational backbone for the company’s expansion in the region, building on recent commercial partnerships with DoorDash and Uber Eats, two of the largest food delivery platforms in the world.

The news comes shortly after Flytrex unveiled the Sky2, its next-generation delivery drone with an industry-leading 8.8 lb payload capacity, which will be assembled at the new Pilot Point facility. The nearly 8,000 square foot facility includes a closed warehouse as well as a secure outdoor area for test flights. [Read more…] about Flytrex opens drone manufacturing facility in Dallas

Canadian Drone Regulations and Testing Explained: Introduction to Canadian Drone Testing

May 14, 2026 by David Edwards

Canada has become one of the leading countries in drone technology and innovation. From snowy mountain regions to crowded urban areas, the country provides a perfect environment for testing advanced drone systems. A Canadian drone test is more than just flying a small machine in the sky.

It represents the future of transportation, security, farming, mapping, and even emergency rescue operations. Over the last few years, drones have evolved from simple recreational gadgets into highly intelligent machines capable of performing complex tasks with precision and speed.

The rise of drone testing in Canada is connected to the country’s focus on technological advancement and safety regulations. Companies, universities, and government agencies work together to test drones in real-world environments. Robotics & Automation News publishes in-depth trend analysis on the future of drone logistics

February 13, 2026 by Sam Francis

Robotics & Automation News has released a new premium industry report examining the operational realities, economic constraints, and long-term outlook for drone delivery systems.

Titled Drone Logistics: Infrastructure, Economics and Market Outlook (2026-2032), the Trend Analysis provides a structured assessment of a sector that has moved beyond early-stage experimentation and is entering a more commercially disciplined phase.

While drone delivery has often been framed as a disruptive force in last-mile logistics, the report concludes that the technology is more likely to develop as a specialised layer within broader distribution networks rather than a universal replacement for ground transport.
