Parallel Systems raises $100 million to bring autonomous freight trains into mainstream logistics

Parallel Systems is developing what it describes as the world’s first autonomous freight train system, as the broader logistics industry increasingly shifts toward automated and autonomous transportation technologies.

The Los Angeles-based company has raised approximately $100 million to date and is currently conducting commercial testing of its autonomous rail vehicles in Georgia in partnership with Genesee & Wyoming under oversight from the Federal Railroad Administration.

Einride deploys autonomous electric trucks in Ohio freight corridor pilot

Einride and EASE Logistics have announced the deployment of SAE Level 4 (L4) Einride autonomous trucks into proof-of-concept service between EASE Logistics warehouses in Marysville, Ohio.

This deployment is an extension of the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and DriveOhio’s Truck Automation Corridor Project, in partnership with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), and is designed to evaluate the impact of autonomous technology on operations, safety, and freight efficiency.

Bot Auto completes driverless commercial truck delivery between Houston and Dallas

Autonomous trucking company Bot Auto says it has completed what it describes as the first fully humanless commercial over-the-road truckload delivery in the United States, moving freight between Houston and Dallas without a driver, in-cab observer, or remote operator controlling the vehicle.

The Houston-based company said the autonomous truck completed a 230-mile overnight route from Riggy’s Truck Parking in northeast Houston to Safe Stop in Hutchins, south of Dallas, delivering a commercial shipment booked through logistics provider Ryan Transportation.

According to Bot Auto, the run was conducted without a safety driver onboard and without “low-latency remote human feedback”, which the company says differentiates the operation from earlier autonomous trucking demonstrations and pilot programs. PlusAI says it is on track to launch factory-built commercial autonomous trucks in 2027, as the company reported progress across a set of internal readiness metrics tied to safety validation and operational performance.

In an update issued January 8, PlusAI said its Safety Case Readiness (SCR) reached 90.1 percent through the second half of 2025, while Autonomous Miles Percentage (AMP) rose to 99.2 percent and Remote Assistance Free Trips (RAFT) increased to 79.0 percent.
