5 Benefits of Green Alternatives to Fossil Fuel Generators

May 2, 2022 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

Having a backup power source for your home during power outages or long road trips is essential for keeping you safe and connected.

And while generators have long relied on gas and fuel, there’s no reason to keep using generators that rely on harmful toxic fossil fuels.

That’s especially true when you get more from one that uses greener alternative energy sources. [Read more…] about 5 Benefits of Green Alternatives to Fossil Fuel Generators

Hystar to use automation to increase production of green hydrogen

March 7, 2022 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

Semcon is supporting Norwegian Hystar to develop their new electrolyser technology for the production of green hydrogen.

The aim is to produce up to 150 percent more hydrogen without using more energy than in conventional processes today.

The project is now being expanded and Semcon is providing more expertise in order to automate the production of electrolyser stacks, which convert electricity to hydrogen and oxygen. [Read more…] about Hystar to use automation to increase production of green hydrogen

Continental claims all its production runs on ‘100 percent green electricity’

February 14, 2022 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

Continental, one of the world’s largest suppliers of vehicle tyres and automotive components and systems, claims that all of its production has been running on “100 percent green electricity’ for the past couple of years at least.

Continental claims to have been procuring all of the electricity for its production sites from renewable energy sources as of fiscal 2020. The company says this is the “clear conclusion” reached in a report by auditor KPMG.

By purchasing approximately 4 million megawatt-hours (MWh) of green energy, Continental reduced its own direct and indirect global CO2 emissions by 70 percent from around 3.2 million metric tons in 2019 to 0.99 million metric tons in 2020. Continental developing charging robots for electric vehicles with Volterio

January 26, 2022 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

Automotive technology giant Continental says it is “revolutionizing the charging of electric vehicles”.

Working with startup Volterio, Continental’s development and production service provider Continental Engineering Services is developing a fully automatic intelligent charging robot that will make filling up with electricity “much easier and more convenient” in the future.

CES and Volterio have now officially entered into a partnership that will see the latter develop the first near-production systems for the jointly designed charging robot by mid-2022. [Read more…] about Continental developing charging robots for electric vehicles with Volterio

Interview: Energy Systems Network CEO Paul Mitchell talks about the future of cars and Indy Autonomous Challenge

January 10, 2022 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

It’s been a while since we wrote up an interview, mainly because they take a long time to transcribe and edit into a readable article. And we’re not yet a large enough website to devote time to doing that because there are many other stories that would have to wait while we’re busy doing that.

However, the subject of electric vehicles and EV charging networks are important technologies that literally millions of people have been reading about on this website, and we think they will find this interview interesting.

The interview is with Paul Mitchell, president and CEO of Energy Systems Network, a US-based nonprofit which could be described as a kind of public-private partnership with the aim of discovering and commercialising technologies that provide a platform for the continued healthy growth of the entire clean-energy future of moving machines – cars and other road-going vehicles in particular, but possibly even marine vessels and other types of craft such as drones and maybe even planes. 2022 Energy Forecast: Ultra-dense power delivery networks are re-shaping the future

January 7, 2022 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

By Tom Curatolo, senior director, applications engineering, Vicor Corporation

It is estimated by the year 2030 there will be a global skilled labor shortage of up to 85 million jobs, which equates to $8.5 trillion, according to a recent Korn Ferry report.

Many of these jobs will be in the industrial and service sectors where the Covid pandemic has exposed weaknesses in global supply chains and labor pools. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and robots can alleviate this situation by efficiently automating manual tasks.

Today, UAVs are being quickly ushered into service for a host of unique and mission-critical applications, including security/surveillance, parcel delivery, agriculture, defense and even natural disaster recovery and humanitarian aid delivery missions.
