Yaskawa and Dale Automation partner to boost efficiency in southern African manufacturing

May 19, 2026 by David Edwards

Southern African manufacturers are facing unprecedented operational pressures, from rising labour costs to growing demand for processed foods.

To meet these challenges, companies are turning to automated solutions on the factory floor, and the partnership between Yaskawa Southern Africa and Dale Automation effectively demonstrates how robotics and material-handling expertise can transform end-of-line operations. Vention expands conveyor platform with integrated end-of-line automation system

May 14, 2026 by David Edwards

Vention, a provider of an automation platform and hardware ecosystem, has announced the expansion of its conveyor ecosystem, delivering a fully integrated solution for material handling across assembly lines, warehouse logistics, and end-of-line packaging applications.

Vention’s conveyor ecosystem is part of its broader platform approach to industrial automation, where design, ordering, deployment, and operation are unified within a single environment.

By combining modular hardware with integrated control and intuitive software, Vention enables manufacturers to deploy and scale material handling systems with less engineering effort, lower integration risk, and reduced reliance on specialized expertise for setup and adjustments, driving greater operational consistency across sites. Snack sector shifts drive rethink of end-of-line automation strategies

April 16, 2026 by David Edwards

The global snack industry is undergoing a structural shift that is forcing manufacturers to rethink how production lines are designed, particularly at the end-of-line stage where packaging and case handling take place.

While the sector continues to grow, industry observers say the more significant change lies in the increasing complexity of production. A proliferation of product formats – from single-serve packs to multipacks and e-commerce-ready cartons – is driving a sharp rise in SKU counts, placing new demands on manufacturing systems.

Production environments that were once optimized for long, stable runs are now required to handle near-continuous changeovers. [Read more…] about Snack sector shifts drive rethink of end-of-line automation strategies

PASCO Marks 50 Years in Industrial Automation

April 7, 2026 by Sam Francis

In 1976, two engineers at Monsanto Corporation saw a problem on the plant floor that needed to be solved. Workers were manually handling heavy 55-gallon drums Their people were handling 400- to 500-pound drums and sustaining frequent injuries. So, the idea was simple. Build a modular palletizer that takes the lifting out of it.

The hydraulic palletizing system that followed used an overhead wiper with cam followers and a stripper plate to efficiently place drums onto pallets automatically placed from a dispenser. And on top of that, it paid for itself within a year or two. These workhorses could last 20 years or more – an obvious good ROI.

From this, the engineers saw a larger market. If Monsanto needed this solution, it was likely that every other manufacturer moving heavy products would need their variation of the solution, too. They quit their jobs and started a company with one fabricator in a garage. [Read more…] about PASCO Marks 50 Years in Industrial Automation

Best Manufacturing and Packaging Automation Companies in 2026

February 27, 2026 by David Edwards

When you look at the factory floors of 2026, you can see that the conversation around industrial technology has moved past the simple question of whether to automate. Today, the real challenge you face is how to integrate intelligence into those systems without making your life more difficult.

You probably already know that the labor market is not getting any easier to navigate, and the demand for higher precision in specialized sectors like food and beverage is only going up. In this landscape, the best manufacturing automation companies are those that prioritize reliability and ease of use over complex, fragile setups.

You need systems that feel like a natural extension of your team rather than a high-maintenance guest in your facility. Whether you are scaling a boutique production line or managing a massive industrial plant, the shift toward software-defined automation means your hardware needs to be as adaptable as the code running it.
