Interview with Clearpath Robotics co-founder Ryan Gariepy: ‘Most industries in Canada are under-automated’

June 22, 2026 by Sam Francis

Canada has long been recognized for its contributions to robotics research, producing world-class universities, pioneering robotics startups, and innovative technologies that have found applications across manufacturing, logistics, agriculture, mining, and defense.

Yet despite this strong technical foundation, many observers argue that Canada has not always translated its research strengths into widespread industrial deployment at the same pace as some other leading economies.

Few people have witnessed that evolution more closely than Ryan Gariepy, co-founder of Clearpath Robotics, one of Canada’s most successful robotics companies. [Read more…] about Interview with Clearpath Robotics co-founder Ryan Gariepy: ‘Most industries in Canada are under-automated’

Teradyne Robotics unveils production-ready physical AI applications at Automate 2026

June 15, 2026 by Sam Francis

Teradyne Robotics, the company that owns Universal Robots and Mobile Industrial Robots, will demonstrate how physical AI is transforming industrial automation at Automate 2026 in Chicago, June 22-25 at booth #1250.

“Physical AI is on full display across our robotic solutions at Automate,” said Jean-Pierre Hathout, President of the Teradyne Robotics Group.

“The demos we are presenting are real and deployable. Manufacturers can purchase the physical AI‑enabled applications we have on display, including our first physical AI-product the MiR1200 Pallet Jack, today – delivered through our global ecosystem of system integrators and partners – to automate tasks that have traditionally been difficult or impractical for robots, including those in dynamic and unstructured environments.” [Read more…] about Teradyne Robotics unveils production-ready physical AI applications at Automate 2026

Güdel expands robotic grinding reach with integrated vertical and horizontal motion

June 9, 2026 by Sam Francis

Grinding and surface finishing of fabricated parts is one of the classic 3D (Dull, Dirty, Dangerous) applications that are perfect for robot automation.

Unfortunately, automating the grinding of large fabrications means multiple robots and complex part repositioning, which add significant cost and extended cycle times while introducing new sources of variation in the process.

At Automate 2026, Güdel arrives with a system designed to scale beyond these physical constraints. [Read more…] about Güdel expands robotic grinding reach with integrated vertical and horizontal motion
