Interview with GFT Technologies’ Brandon Speweik: Moving AI from detection to action on the factory floor

June 4, 2026 by Sam Francis

Artificial intelligence has become one of the most widely discussed technologies in manufacturing, but much of the conversation remains focused on software – dashboards, analytics, predictive models, and digital decision-making tools.

Increasingly, however, manufacturers are asking a more practical question: how can AI move beyond identifying problems and begin helping to solve them on the factory floor?

That challenge is particularly relevant in the automotive industry, where production lines operate at high speed and even small quality issues can have significant downstream consequences. ‘Humanoid robots show clearer ROI, but commercial success depends on effective output’

May 19, 2026 by David Edwards

Humanoid robots are moving from prototype validation toward early commercial deployment, with automotive manufacturing and logistics expected to form the core demand base over the next decade.

According to IDTechEx, the humanoid robot market across automotive, logistics, and home-use applications is forecast to grow rapidly over the coming years, reaching approximately $25 billion by the early 2030s before moderating as the market matures toward 2036.

Annual shipments are projected to approach 1.8 million units by 2036, driven primarily by automotive manufacturing, with logistics following and home-use remaining a longer-term opportunity with limited penetration within the forecast period. GFT takes AI from visual inspection to physical action for auto manufacturers

May 18, 2026 by David Edwards

Global digital transformation company GFT Technologies has launched its new AI-powered robotic arms designed for automotive manufacturing.

Building on the company’s existing work with Google on AI-powered visual inspection, the new technology can not only detect defective parts but also physically remove them from the assembly line – helping manufacturers improve quality and keep production moving at full speed.

While many manufacturers have adopted AI for visual inspection, most systems stop at detection. Software can flag anomalies, but human intervention is still required to act on them, creating delays and increasing the risk of defective parts moving further down the line. Horse Powertrain installs Siemens AI inspection system to automate engine quality checks

May 14, 2026 by David Edwards

Horse Powertrain, an innovator of low-emission powertrain systems, has deployed the Siemens Inspekto Visual Inspection system at its Skövde engine production plant through its Aurobay Technologies division.

Powered by artificial intelligence (AI), the system automates quality checks at the engine inspection station, replacing a process previously performed by hand.

Engines arrive at the AI-powered inspection station via automated guided vehicles. A vision camera mounted on a collaborative robot performs defect analysis in a few seconds, storing all images to support traceable, searchable records across the production line. Dürr launches new robots with optimized arm geometry for painting tasks

May 13, 2026 by David Edwards

With the EcoRP4, Dürr is introducing a new generation of robots used to paint car bodies. The compact painting robot features an asymmetric architecture that improves access to the body for the applicator, enabling it to reliably reach even hard-to-access interior areas.

Its reduced number of components also lowers maintenance requirements and operational costs, especially benefiting car manufacturers with high production volumes.

Since 1998, Dürr has shipped almost 20,000 painting robots from the Ecopaint robotic family worldwide. The latest addition to the family, the EcoRP4, has been developed as the successor to the six-axis EcoRP E/L x33iC robot, and is specifically designed for painting lines that handle high volumes and standardised applications. The Growing Demand for Aluminum CNC Machining in Modern Industries

April 8, 2026 by Sam Francis

Walk into almost any production facility today and you will notice something. Aluminum is everywhere. It shows up in aerospace components, car parts, medical tools, and consumer gadgets. And most of those parts went through a CNC machine at some point.

That is not a coincidence. As the demand for precise, lightweight parts keeps climbing, this combination is becoming more central to how modern manufacturing gets done.

The global CNC machining market is projected to exceed $100 billion by 2026, and companies like Yijin Solution, known for their reliable aluminum CNC machining service, are already doing the kind of work that reflects where the industry is heading.
