Flexiv launches new ‘adaptive robots’ for industrial automation

June 26, 2026 by Sam Francis

Flexiv has launched two new adaptive robots designed to bring greater tactile sensing and physical AI capabilities to industrial automation.

The company unveiled its new Enlight robotic arm and Mico dual-arm robotic platform, describing them as a significant step forward in force-controlled robotics and embodied intelligence.

The flagship Enlight is a seven-axis adaptive robot equipped with multi-dimensional force-torque sensors integrated into each of its seven joints. According to Flexiv, this enables whole-body touch sensitivity, allowing the robot to detect single-touch contact, track multiple contact points, and recognize tactile patterns. People want robots in warehouses and factories, not hospitals or schools, Hexagon study finds

June 26, 2026 by Sam Francis

New findings from Hexagon’s global Robot Generation study show that both adults and children are open to robots at work, but are setting clear terms for where and how they should be used.

Asked whether they would prefer a human or a robot to handle specific workplace tasks, adults consistently chose robots for physical, repetitive, and hazardous work. 68 percent prefer a robot for lifting and transporting heavy items, 54 percent for carrying and delivering, and 52 percent for monitoring hazards.

Children follow the same pattern with even greater openness, with 69 percent preferring a robot for heavy lifting, and 59 percent for carrying and delivering. [Read more…] about People want robots in warehouses and factories, not hospitals or schools, Hexagon study finds

ABB Robotics and Psyonic use human-generated data to advance robotic dexterity

June 26, 2026 by Sam Francis

Dexterity remains a major challenge for industry; improved handling can reduce engineering time by up to 30%

ABB Robotics is collaborating with California bionics company, Psyonic, to advance robotic gripping and dexterity using a new approach that utilizes real-world manipulation data from human prosthetic use.

By combining the Psyonic Ability Hand with an ABB GoFa cobot, the collaboration will explore how touch and motion data generated by human prosthetic use can be used to train robots to perform delicate, variable tasks that have traditionally been difficult to automate. Teradar enters paid evaluation program with German automaker for terahertz vehicle sensing technology

June 26, 2026 by Sam Francis

Teradar, a developer of terahertz (THz) vision technology, has entered a paid technical evaluation program with a major German automotive manufacturer to assess its sensing technology for future advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving platforms.

The evaluation will focus on scenarios where existing sensing technologies such as cameras, radar, and lidar can struggle, including adverse weather conditions and complex edge cases involving small objects at long range.

As part of the program, the automaker will invest engineering resources and provide access to specialist testing facilities to evaluate Teradar’s Summit terahertz vision sensor under controlled rain and fog conditions. How Automation Professionals Are Future-Proofing Their Wealth

June 26, 2026 by Sam Francis

There’s a quiet anxiety spreading through tech offices right now. It doesn’t come up in stand-ups or sprint reviews. But it’s there, humming underneath the surface of conversations about layoffs, model updates, and quarterly restructures. People who spent years mastering automation tools are starting to ask a strange question: “Am I automating myself out of a job?”

It’s not paranoia. It’s pattern recognition.

Many RPA developers, AI trainers, and workflow engineers have watched entire departments get consolidated into a single script. They built the thing that replaced the team. And now they’re wondering who builds the thing that replaces them. [Read more…] about How Automation Professionals Are Future-Proofing Their Wealth

10 Best Workforce Management Software Platforms in 2026

June 26, 2026 by Sam Francis

Managing a workforce has become complex for modern businesses, with teams spread across locations, changing workloads, and higher expectations for efficiency. Manual planning or disconnected systems often lead to poor visibility and inconsistent performance tracking.

This is why organizations are adopting workforce management software to centralize operations and improve control. These tools support workforce planning, scheduling, performance tracking, and reporting, helping businesses improve efficiency and make better operational decisions. Choosing the right solution depends on business goals and workforce structure. [Read more…] about 10 Best Workforce Management Software Platforms in 2026

The Small Component Problem Behind More Reliable Industrial Robots

June 26, 2026 by Sam Francis

Picture an automotive assembly line or a high-speed semiconductor packaging facility. A robotic arm moves with sub-millimeter precision at three hundred cycles a minute, its movements coordinated by machine vision systems, remote I/O blocks, and sensitive microcontrollers. Everything draws power from a shared industrial rail.

Then, a heavy CNC machine on the same grid fires up, causing a momentary voltage spike.

If that spike reaches the robot’s control silicon, the entire cell stops. A maintenance tech is paged, and the manufacturer enters a downtime window that, according to Deloitte data, costs anywhere between $5,000 and $22,000 per hour.
