The Automation Age: 6 Ways Pick and Pack Fulfillment is Revolutionizing Order Delivery

July 13, 2026 by Sam Francis

The expectations governing the modern supply chain have shifted permanently. Consumers and business clients alike no longer view two-day shipping as a premium luxury; they consider it the baseline standard.

For e-commerce businesses and growing enterprises, meeting this demand requires a complete overhaul of traditional logistics. The days of manual warehouse workers walking miles of aisles with paper clipboards are giving way to streamlined, technology-driven ecosystems.

At the heart of this evolution is the critical process of transforming a digital order confirmation into a physical package ready for transit. [Read more…] about The Automation Age: 6 Ways Pick and Pack Fulfillment is Revolutionizing Order Delivery

HelloFresh expands chilled warehouse capacity fivefold with Locus Robotics automation

July 7, 2026 by Sam Francis

Locus Robotics, a warehouse automation company, has announced that a cold-storage hardware modification developed for HelloFresh has enabled the meal kit company to expand chilled fulfillment capacity from 100 SKUs to 500 SKUs – a fivefold increase that supports greater meal variety and new revenue opportunities across the HelloFresh brand portfolio.

Factor, a HelloFresh brand, first deployed 13 Locus Origin robots in July 2025 as part of an initial pilot. The deployment quickly demonstrated the execution consistency and reliability required for chilled fulfillment, with Locus Origin robots averaging a mission time of just 3 minutes and 36 seconds from order induction through box drop-off.

Following that strong early performance, HelloFresh expanded the deployment within three months with 26 additional Locus Origin robots, with plans to add EveryPlate fulfillment support later this year. Robust.AI selects Aptiv’s AI-powered perception system for next-generation Carter warehouse robot

July 7, 2026 by Sam Francis

Aptiv, an industrial technology company, has announced that Robust.AI, a developer of AI-driven warehouse automation, has selected Aptiv’s intelligent perception solutions, including AI and Machine Learning based sensor fusion powered by the Aptiv Pulse sensor for its Gen 3 Carter collaborative mobile robot.

This selection builds on the companies’ existing collaboration to combine Aptiv’s proven solutions with Robust.AI’s robotics expertise and human-centered design to accelerate scalable, AI-powered robotic workflows, while also establishing the foundation for Performance Level d – or PL(d) – certification across relevant industrial safety use cases.

Jay Bellissimo, senior VP and president, intelligent systems, software and services, Aptiv, says: “Scale adoption of robotics requires safety critical perception that spans the dynamic conditions experienced in the real world.” [Read more…] about Robust.AI selects Aptiv’s AI-powered perception system for next-generation Carter warehouse robot

Sonair unveils ‘world’s first’ safety-certified 3D ultrasonic sensor for human-robot collaboration

July 7, 2026 by Sam Francis

While the AI boom has made robots significantly more capable, the accompanying safety infrastructure has struggled to keep pace.

Traditional 2D laser scanners, which are widely used to define safety perimeters for most mobile robotic systems, are unable to detect people and obstacles above or below a single plane.

“The bottleneck to safe human-robot coexistence isn’t intelligence or speed,” said Knut Sandven, CEO of Sonair. “It’s safe perception; knowing reliably under any condition, that a human is nearby.

This milestone certification is the first time a 3D sensor has been independently verified to meet that bar using sound instead of light – a new sensing modality that complements cameras where they fall short.” [Read more…] about Sonair unveils ‘world’s first’ safety-certified 3D ultrasonic sensor for human-robot collaboration

How Motor Controllers Influence Robot Accuracy and Energy Efficiency

July 2, 2026 by Sam Francis

As robotics continues to transform industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, logistics, and agriculture, the demand for precise and energy-efficient motion control has never been greater.

At the heart of many modern robotic systems are Brushless DC (BLDC) motors, known for their high efficiency, reliability, and long service life. However, the true performance of a BLDC motor depends heavily on its motor controller.

A well-designed BLDC motor controller not only ensures accurate movement but also minimizes energy consumption, making it one of the most important components in any robotic system. [Read more…] about How Motor Controllers Influence Robot Accuracy and Energy Efficiency

The Small Component Problem Behind More Reliable Industrial Robots

June 26, 2026 by Sam Francis

Picture an automotive assembly line or a high-speed semiconductor packaging facility. A robotic arm moves with sub-millimeter precision at three hundred cycles a minute, its movements coordinated by machine vision systems, remote I/O blocks, and sensitive microcontrollers. Everything draws power from a shared industrial rail.

Then, a heavy CNC machine on the same grid fires up, causing a momentary voltage spike.

If that spike reaches the robot’s control silicon, the entire cell stops. A maintenance tech is paged, and the manufacturer enters a downtime window that, according to Deloitte data, costs anywhere between $5,000 and $22,000 per hour. Interview with Olo Robotics COO Eleanor Tang-Smith: Making robot programming accessible to everyone

June 22, 2026 by Sam Francis

Robotics hardware has advanced rapidly in recent years. Autonomous mobile robots, quadrupeds, robotic arms, and even humanoid robots are becoming increasingly capable and commercially available. Yet for many organizations, one of the biggest barriers to adoption remains software.

Building robotic applications typically requires specialist expertise in platforms such as ROS 2 (Robot Operating System 2), the open-source framework that has become the de facto standard for modern robotics development.

While ROS 2 has helped accelerate robotics innovation across industries, it is still widely regarded as complex and difficult for newcomers to master. [Read more…] about Interview with Olo Robotics COO Eleanor Tang-Smith: Making robot programming accessible to everyone
