Clean Cuts, Smarter Builds: How Laser Cutting Enhances Robotics and Automation

July 14, 2025 by David Edwards

Robotics and automation are only as precise as the tools that support them. As factories become smarter and systems more integrated, the need for ultra-accurate components continues to grow.

That’s where laser cutting steps in – not just as a tool, but as a foundational part of modern fabrication. Whether it’s shaping the housing of a robotic arm or customizing parts for industrial machines, laser cutting delivers speed, precision, and adaptability in ways that traditional methods often can’t match. AI-Driven Tool Wear Detection in Precision Milling

June 17, 2025 by Sam Francis

Tool wear is a predominant aspect in precision milling environments that affects accuracy, surface finish, and cost efficiency.

Tool wear detection systems have previously utilized AI-based approaches, enabling real-time insights into sensor data streams comprising vibration, acoustic emissions, and spindle load variations.

Scrap and rework are also minimized as these systems enable proactive changes of tools before a drop in performance can be noticed. [Read more…] about AI-Driven Tool Wear Detection in Precision Milling

Rethinking packaging: How automation is transforming production lines

June 5, 2025 by Mai Tao

As manufacturing faces growing pressure from labor shortages, sustainability, and quality demands, packaging is becoming a critical point of focus, especially in high-volume sectors like wood processing.

The article examines how one of the Baltic region’s largest furniture producers restructured its packaging operations through automation, revealing broader shifts in how industrial systems are designed and staffed.

Across global manufacturing, packaging is emerging as one of the most urgent frontiers for automation. [Read more…] about Rethinking packaging: How automation is transforming production lines

Smart products and factories transforming engineering services industry

November 19, 2018 by Sam Francis

SmartFactory Industrie 4.0

The rapid growth of smart products and smart factories is transforming the engineering services industry as never before, and providers are responding by digitalizing virtually every facet of their services portfolio, according to a new study from Information Services Group, a global technology research and advisory firm.

The latest ISG Provider Lens Quadrant report, the first ever by ISG to evaluate engineering services providers serving the US market, notes providers are moving to address the digital elements of core engineering functions – from concept and physical product development, to optimization of industrial design and operations, to software product and applications software development.

Esteban Herrera, partner and global head of ISG Research, says: “Transforming from a traditional to an agile business environment is key.  [Read more…] about Smart products and factories transforming engineering services industry
