Starship Technologies celebrates 50,000 autonomous deliveries with its robots

Starship says its autonomous delivery robots have now travelled over 200,000 miles – the equivalent of driving around the world more than eight times

Starship Technologies, the world’s leading provider of autonomous delivery services, today announced that it has passed the major milestone of 50,000 commercial deliveries.

The company’s robots have travelled in over 100 cities around the world, operating commercially every day in local neighbourhoods and university and corporate campuses across five different time zones.

Brain Corp debuts autonomous supply chain robot

Brain Corp, a San Diego-based artificial intelligence company specializing in robotics, has launched a new delivery robot which it calls “AutoDelivery”. (See video below.)

AutoDelivery appears to be designed to operate within warehouses and stores, or facilities where it will generally be alongside human staff, rather than make deliveries to consumers’ addresses.

The proof-of-concept robot is powered by BrainOS, the company’s commercial operating system for the production, installation, and support of autonomous mobile robots, or AMRs.

BrainOS currently powers multiple machines within the robotic floor care industry, including those made by Tennant, Minuteman, ICE, and SoftBank Robotics.  [Read more…] about Brain Corp debuts autonomous supply chain robot

FedEx unveils ‘SameDay Bot’ for future home deliveries

Logistics giant FedEx is developing what it describes as “cutting-edge delivery solutions” to meet the rapidly changing needs of consumers.

As part of that development, the company has unveiled the FedEx SameDay Bot – an autonomous delivery device prototype designed to help retailers make same-day and last-mile deliveries to their customers. (See video below.)

Amazon ‘field testing’ delivery robot as part of premium service

Amazon is “field testing” a small delivery robot as part of its premium service, Amazon Prime. (See video below.) 

The robot, called Amazon Scout, is a “fully-electric delivery system” designed to safely get packages to customers using autonomous delivery devices, says the company in its blog.

PepsiCo sends Robby’s delivery robot to college

PepsiCo has enrolled its “Hello Goodness snackbot” into college. (See video below.) 

What the company calls “the friendliest new freshman” at University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, arrived on campus earlier this month. And it’s stocked with snacks and beverages.

Norway postal service hires robot to deliver letters

The Norwegian postal service. Posten-Norge, has hired a robot to deliver letters and parcels.

The company supplying the robot, Buddy Mobility, says: “Our robot provides Posten with operational cost savings to offset revenue losses from dramatically decreasing mail volumes.

New Kinpo Group unveils AI robotic factory and service solutions at IMTS 2018

Contract manufacturer New Kinpo Group says it has implemented a “significant industry 4.0 portfolio expansion” to its business.

As part of the new offering, the company has established a new brand, New Era AI Robotics.
