ABB opens state-of-the-art robotics mega factory in Shanghai

ABB has officially opened its state-of-the-art, fully automated and flexible robotics factory in Kangqiao, Shanghai, China. (See video below.)

The 67,000 sq m production and research facility represents a $150 million (1.1 billion RMB) investment by ABB and will deploy the company’s digital and automation technologies to manufacture next generation robots – enhancing ABB’s robotics and automation leadership in China.

Nauticus Robotics presents at United Nations’ sustainability event

Nauticus Robotics, a developer of ocean robots, autonomy software, and services to the marine industries, today announced that founder and CEO Nicolaus Radford was scheduled to be speaking at an event on December 1, 2022, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.

The UN event is called “Energy Transition Industries: Solutions to Achieving SDG’s – How Renewable Energy Can Combat Inflation in Emerging Nations”.

SME, a nationally recognized certifying body in manufacturing, announced today that it has developed and will offer the Robotics in Manufacturing Fundamentals (RMF) credential.

The new certification, focused on assessing a candidate’s comprehension of fundamental robotics concepts, may be used by those currently looking to upskill or reskill into manufacturing careers before pursuing equipment-specific or career pathway-specific training in robotics.

Locus Robotics raises $117 million in new funding, valuing startup at $2 billion

Locus Robotics, a maker of autonomous mobile robots for fulfillment and distribution warehouses, has raised $117 million in Series F funding, led by Goldman Sachs Asset Management and G2 Venture Partners.

As part of the financing, Mark Midle, managing director, Goldman Sachs, and Zach Barasz, partner, G2 Venture Partners, will join the Locus’ board of directors, bringing their unique industry perspectives and insights to further guide Locus’s next stage of growth and global expansion.

Labor shortages set to propel shipments of outdoor mobile robots to 350,000 by 2030

Rapid advancements in fundamental techniques, such as navigation, manipulation, and functional safety, have made robots more intelligent, agile, and safer.

Mobile robots are a proven ideal companion for humans performing mission- and business-critical tasks in outdoor environments. According to global intelligence firm ABI Research, shipments of outdoor mobile robots will grow from 40,000 units in 2021 to reach 350,000 by 2030, a compound annual growth rate of 27 percent.

With the successful deployment of mobile robots for successful navigation, manipulation, and functional safety in material handling, transporting, and cleaning, companies are now looking to deploy robots for outdoor applications for the same reasons. SEKO Logistics partners with GreyOrange to scale up warehouse operations

SEKO Logistics, a global logistics provider, is today announcing a strategic partnership with GreyOrange, a global leader in automated robotic fulfilment and inventory optimization software, to help scale-up its warehouse operations.

The partnership, which will involve SEKO using a fleet of GreyOrange’s Ranger Assist Bots and GreyMatter fulfilment orchestration platform, will enable the company to both increase available capacity and throughput across its warehouse while also reducing operating costs.

Rivelin Robotics launches software-oriented robotic system at Formnext

Bowe Group leads $8.2 million investment round in robot software company Mov.ai
