Soft Robotics using Nvidia simulation technology to develop its gripping system

February 16, 2023 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

Soft Robotics has applied Nvidia Isaac Sim’s synthetic data to food processing automation in efforts to improve safety and increase production.

Developers have been striving to close the gap on robotic gripping for the past several years, pursuing applications for multibillion-dollar industries. Securely gripping and transferring fast-moving items on conveyor belts holds vast promise for businesses.

Soft Robotics, a Bedford, Massachusetts startup, is harnessing Nvidia Isaac Sim to help close the sim to real gap for a handful of robotic gripping applications. One area is perfecting gripping for pick and placement of foods for packaging. [Read more…] about Soft Robotics using Nvidia simulation technology to develop its gripping system

Indy Autonomous Challenge to race at iconic Texas speedway

November 4, 2022 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

The Indy Autonomous Challenge will return to racing at another iconic track with “The Indy Autonomous Challenge Powered by Cisco” at the Texas Motor Speedway on Friday, November 11th in Fort Worth, Texas.

This follows a record setting competition at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway last October, and making history at CES 2022 in January with the world’s first-ever, head-to-head autonomous racing competition.

Presenting sponsor Cisco Systems will enable critical in-vehicle and car-to-trackside connectivity with Dallara AV-21 racecars using ultra-low latency wireless technology for the head-to-head autonomous racecar competition where nine IAC teams will seek to compete. Indy Autonomous Challenge racecar sets new speed record for driverless vehicle

April 29, 2022 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

The Indy Autonomous Challenge racecar, a Dallara AV-21 programmed by team PoliMOVE from Politecnico di Milano, Italy, and the University of Alabama, USA, has set a new land speed world record of 192.2 mph / 309.3 kph at the historic Kennedy Space Center.

Operating the Dallara AV-21, PoliMOVE set out to push the limits of a boosted engine package during test runs yesterday at Space Florida’s Launch & Landing Facility at Kennedy Space Center.

The upgraded engine package, capable of delivering 30 percent more horsepower than previous models, will be on all IAC racecars moving forward. Future competitions will be announced in the coming months. [Read more…] about Indy Autonomous Challenge racecar sets new speed record for driverless vehicle

Interview: Energy Systems Network CEO Paul Mitchell talks about the future of cars and Indy Autonomous Challenge

January 10, 2022 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

It’s been a while since we wrote up an interview, mainly because they take a long time to transcribe and edit into a readable article. And we’re not yet a large enough website to devote time to doing that because there are many other stories that would have to wait while we’re busy doing that.

However, the subject of electric vehicles and EV charging networks are important technologies that literally millions of people have been reading about on this website, and we think they will find this interview interesting.

The interview is with Paul Mitchell, president and CEO of Energy Systems Network, a US-based nonprofit which could be described as a kind of public-private partnership with the aim of discovering and commercialising technologies that provide a platform for the continued healthy growth of the entire clean-energy future of moving machines – cars and other road-going vehicles in particular, but possibly even marine vessels and other types of craft such as drones and maybe even planes. Abu Dhabi team in ‘pole position’ at CES autonomous racing challenge

January 3, 2022 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

Abu Dhabi’s Technology Innovation Institute (TII) says it is in “pole position” at the first-ever CES autonomous racing challenge, although it’s not clear whether that means its car is literally in pole position on the grid or that the team is simply well prepared and positioned overall.

Abu Dhabi says its preparations are in full swing to mark its first participation as Team TII EuroRacing in the upcoming Autonomous Challenge @ CES 2022.

CES is regarded as the most influential tech event in the world. The inaugural autonomous high-speed, head-to-head autonomous racecar competition flags off at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on 7 January 2022. [Read more…] about Abu Dhabi team in ‘pole position’ at CES autonomous racing challenge
