OnRobot ‘One System’ grippers receive UR+ certification for operation with Universal Robots

December 6, 2019 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

OnRobot’s “One System Solution Grippers” have received UR+ certification for seamless operation with Universal Robots. UR+ is like an app store for hardware and software solutions that are compatible with Universal Robots’ collaborative robots.

The certified URCap software provides a unified interface for OnRobot’s new versions of RG2, RG6, and VG10 grippers with Universal Robots (UR).

The URCap allows the OnRobot grippers to work seamlessly with UR’s collaborative robot arms in a single program with no need to change cables or load new software when deploying additional products. Automation increases productivity in materials science by 384 times, say researchers

December 6, 2019 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

An automated method of conducting materials science research can increase productivity by 384 times when compared to a human, according to researchers.

The robot-plus-software system also makes it easier for people who are not expert researchers or scientists to create new materials.

A Rutgers-led team of engineers has developed an automated way to produce polymers, making it much easier to create advanced materials aimed at improving human health. [Read more…] about Automation increases productivity in materials science by 384 times, say researchers

OnLogic unveils new line of mini PCs powered by AMD Ryzen Embedded processors

December 5, 2019 by Mai Tao Leave a Comment

Computer hardware manufacturer OnLogic has teamed up with AMD to release a line of small form factor industrial computers powered by AMD Ryzen Embedded processors.

Both the ultra-compact fanless ML100G-40, and actively-cooled MC510-40 are available for pre-order now and limited quantities are expected to begin shipping to customers this month.

Johnny Chen, OnLogic partnership manager, says: “When we talk about helping clients find the ‘right-fit’ computing solution, it’s about a lot more than just the form factor of the device. [Read more…] about OnLogic unveils new line of mini PCs powered by AMD Ryzen Embedded processors

How robotics and AI are changing the fashion industry and warehousing sector

November 26, 2019 by Mai Tao Leave a Comment

The fashion industry is investing huge amounts of money in artificial intelligence systems that can provide what is called “sentiment analysis”, which is similar to customer feedback, except that it’s indirectly acquired.

Typically, sentiment analytics systems can gather information from social media pages as well as through natural language processing, perhaps through listening to customer phone calls.

A massive number of data points can be collated and analysed – a quantity of information that only an AI system can process. And after processing it all, conclusions can be drawn. [Read more…] about How robotics and AI are changing the fashion industry and warehousing sector
