Augmentus expands US presence to meet growing demand for easy Scan and Plan robot programming

Augmentus will be exhibiting at the Rockwell Automation Fair in Chicago on 16-17 November 2022 as part of its ongoing partnership with Rockwell Automation.

Conventional robot programming is highly difficult and heavily fragmented with the use of proprietary programming languages and extensive training being the industry norm.

Open letter: Robotics companies call on policymakers not to weaponize robots

A group of leading robotics companies have sent an open letter to policymakers calling on them not to weaponize robots.

The letter was released by Boston Dynamics in collaboration with Agility Robotics, ANYbotics, Clearpath Robotics, Open Robotics and Unitree Robotics.

The letter, which is published in full below, brings together leading companies in the mobile robotics space to pledge to not weaponize their general purpose robots or the software they develop that enables advanced robotics. Cogniteam’s Nimbus OS gives ‘street smarts’ to Rover Robotics’ platforms

Nimbus says its low-code robotics programming capabilities give a new level of intelligence – or “street smarts” – to Rover Robotics’ machine platforms.

ForwardX Robotics releases new fully autonomous forklift

Chipotle pilots robots at key restaurants

Chipotle Mexican Grill, one of the largest restaurant chains in the US, is piloting advanced technologies such as robotics to enhance its employee and guest experience by streamlining operations and reducing friction.

The company recently began piloting two new technologies in its restaurants to deliver precise forecasting, optimal quality, and increased convenience for digital guests.

In select Southern California restaurants, Chipotle is piloting a cook to needs kitchen management system that provides demand-based cooking and ingredient preparation forecasts to optimize throughput and freshness while minimizing food waste. Apptronik signs partnership with NASA for humanoid robots

Apptronik, an Austin, US-based company specializing in the development of versatile, mobile robotic systems, has agreed a partnership with NASA to accelerate commercialization of its new humanoid robot.

The robot, called Apollo (main picture), will be one of the first humanoids available to the commercial markets.

Civ Robotics raises $5 million seed funding round

Civ Robotics has closed a $5 million seed funding round led by ff Venture Capital and Alley Robotics Ventures, with participation from Trimble Ventures.

Civ Robotics’ autonomous surveying solution, CivDot, is an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV), designed for civil engineering and infrastructure projects, such as solar farms, roadways, data centers and power plants to name a few.

Institut Curie implements Versius surgical robotic system as part of research partnership

Institut Curie, said to be France’s leading cancer research centre, has introduced CMR Surgical’s Versius Surgical Robotic System as part of a two-year clinical study partnership.

The Versius system will initially be dedicated to gynaecological cancer surgery with a focus on minimally invasive hysterectomies.

ASTM forms new robotics group to develop standards for grasping and manipulation technologies

ASTM International’s committee on robotics, automation, and autonomous systems (F45) has formed a new subcommittee on grasping and manipulation.

This new subcommittee (F45.05) of ASTM (formerly known as American Society for Testing and Materials) will develop standards that evaluate performance in several major areas of robotic manipulation.

The first three task groups of the committee will develop standards for performance of grasping type end-effectors, mobile manipulators, and robotic assembly systems, covering their use in both fixed and mobile base systems.
