GMEX Robotics advances autonomous hospital logistics robot

April 22, 2026 by David Edwards

GMEX Robotics, a developer of AI-powered robotic technologies, has announced a significant advancement of its hospital logistics robot.

The company is addressing one of the key limitations in existing portable conveyor-type medical tracked robots, which typically require medical staff or patients to bend over to retrieve items, making it inconvenient to adjust to a height suitable for operator use, and which are easily damaged if the sides are impacted by walls or oncoming foot or material traffic.

GMEX’s enhanced design focuses on improving durability, resilience and usability, reducing the risk of damage from external impacts while supporting consistent performance in high-traffic hospital environments. [Read more…] about GMEX Robotics advances autonomous hospital logistics robot

Interview: Jabil on scaling humanoid robots from prototype to production

April 16, 2026 by David Edwards

Humanoid robots have long captured the imagination of the robotics industry, often framed as the next major leap in automation.

But as the technology begins to move out of research labs and into real-world environments, the conversation is shifting. The question is no longer simply what these machines can do, but whether they can be built, deployed, and maintained at scale.

That shift brings companies like Jabil into sharper focus. While not a traditional robotics developer, Jabil operates as a large-scale manufacturing and supply chain partner, working behind the scenes to turn complex product designs into commercially viable systems. PickNik releases MoveIt Pro 9 to improve AI-driven robotics in variable environments

April 9, 2026 by Sam Francis

PickNik has released version 9 of its robotics development software MoveIt Pro, introducing new capabilities aimed at improving how robots operate in complex, real-world environments such as cleaning, sanitation and vehicle washing.

The update focuses on what the company describes as “scan-and-plan” workflows – a technique that allows robots to perceive their surroundings in real time and generate motion paths dynamically, rather than relying on fixed, pre-programmed instructions.

Industrial robots have traditionally performed best in structured environments, such as manufacturing lines, where tasks are repetitive and predictable. However, applications like restroom cleaning or food plant sanitation present a different challenge, requiring robots to adapt to changing layouts, irregular surfaces and variable geometries.
