Interview: Parallel Systems CEO Matt Soule on building ‘the world’s first autonomous freight rail system’

June 15, 2026 by Sam Francis

Autonomous trucks have dominated discussion around the future of freight transportation for much of the past decade, attracting billions of dollars in investment and extensive media attention. Yet another mode of transport – freight rail – is quietly undergoing its own transformation.

Matt Soule, founder and CEO of Parallel Systems, believes autonomous rail could become one of the most significant developments in logistics.

A former SpaceX engineer who spent 13 years helping develop advanced aerospace systems, Soule founded the Los Angeles-based company with the goal of reimagining rail freight using autonomous, battery-electric technology. Interview with Jun Wu of GMEX Robotics: ‘We provide an integrated terminal + brain closed-loop system’

June 5, 2026 by Sam Francis

Artificial intelligence may dominate the headlines, but the future of robotics will depend on much more than software alone.

While many companies are racing to develop foundation models and increasingly capable AI systems, others argue that the real challenge lies in combining intelligence with hardware that can operate reliably in the physical world.

One company taking that approach is GMEX Robotics, a Nasdaq-listed developer of AI-enabled robotic systems for industrial, commercial, and consumer applications. [Read more…] about Interview with Jun Wu of GMEX Robotics: ‘We provide an integrated terminal + brain closed-loop system’

Interview with CreateMe CEO Campbell Myers: From stitching to bonding – physical AI could transform the way clothes are made

June 4, 2026 by Sam Francis

For decades, apparel manufacturing has remained one of the most labor-intensive sectors in global industry. While robots have transformed automotive production, electronics assembly, and warehouse operations, handling soft, deformable materials such as fabric has proven far more difficult to automate.

Textiles stretch, wrinkle, drape, and shift unpredictably, creating challenges that traditional industrial automation systems were never designed to solve.

As interest in embodied AI and physical AI continues to grow, many researchers and technology companies see deformable-material manipulation as one of the most important remaining frontiers in robotics. Should You Lease or Finance Warehouse Automation Equipment?

June 2, 2026 by Sam Francis

The pressure on modern supply chains is higher than it’s ever been. As consumer expectations shift toward lightning-fast delivery times and flawless order accuracy, warehouse operators are realizing that traditional, manual picking, packing, and sorting processes simply can’t keep pace.

Upgrading your facility with advanced automation equipment, whether that means automated guided vehicles, smart conveyor systems, or robotic sorting arms, has moved from a luxury to an absolute necessity for survival.

To compete in today’s landscape, you’ve got to find ways to squeeze maximum efficiency out of every square foot of your fulfillment space. [Read more…] about Should You Lease or Finance Warehouse Automation Equipment?

Interview with Christina Gomez-Terry of Plus One Robotics: Why warehouse robotics succeeds or fails at scale

June 1, 2026 by Sam Francis

Warehouse automation has entered a new phase. The question is no longer whether robotics can perform individual tasks such as parcel picking, depalletizing, sorting, or palletizing.

The technology has largely proven itself in pilot projects and controlled deployments. The bigger challenge facing the industry today is scale.

As logistics operators expand robotics systems across multiple facilities, they often discover that success depends less on peak performance and more on consistency, reliability, and operational resilience.
