From oil platforms to power plants: Dietsmann showcases robotics-driven maintenance in Africa

June 15, 2026 by Sam Francis

Dietsmann, the independent specialist in operation and maintenance (O&M) services for energy production facilities, will participate as a Bronze Sponsor at African Energy Week (AEW) 2026 – taking place from October 12-16 in Cape Town.

The sponsorship deepens a presence in African energy that stretches back decades and reflects the company’s growing role in the policy conversation after it joined the African Energy Chamber earlier this year.

Dietsmann’s participation at AEW 2026 reflects the growing role of specialist maintenance contractors in Africa’s energy industry. With much of the continent’s production now coming from mature fields, the contractors that keep those facilities running reliably and at lower cost have become more important than ever. Güdel expands robotic grinding reach with integrated vertical and horizontal motion

June 9, 2026 by Sam Francis

Grinding and surface finishing of fabricated parts is one of the classic 3D (Dull, Dirty, Dangerous) applications that are perfect for robot automation.

Unfortunately, automating the grinding of large fabrications means multiple robots and complex part repositioning, which add significant cost and extended cycle times while introducing new sources of variation in the process.

At Automate 2026, Güdel arrives with a system designed to scale beyond these physical constraints. [Read more…] about Güdel expands robotic grinding reach with integrated vertical and horizontal motion

Europe’s most important industrial lubrication conference celebrates its 10th anniversary in Bilbao

June 5, 2026 by Sam Francis

Europe’s most important conference on industrial lubricants will celebrate its 10th anniversary at the Euskalduna Convention Centre in Bilbao.

On Wednesday and Thursday of this week, 200 professionals from Europe, Asia and America will attend this new edition of LUBMAT, a leading international biennial event specialising in lubricants, tribology and production equipment monitoring.

For two consecutive days, companies, manufacturers, technology centres and researchers will share the sector’s most recent scientific and technological innovations to address challenges such as sustainability, digitisation and industrial efficiency. The forum is co-organised by the Tekniker technology centre, the Jost Institute for Tribotechnology of the United Kingdom, Bureau Veritas and ATTEN2.

Currently rated as one of Europe’s main meeting points for the lubrication industry and R&D, LUBMAT 2026 features an extensive scientific and technical programme focused on areas such as advanced lubricants, friction and wear reduction, condition-based maintenance, online equipment monitoring, smart sensors, AI applied to industrial maintenance and the development of solutions that are safer and more sustainable. Inbolt to launch vision-enabled robot programming at Automate event

June 4, 2026 by Sam Francis

Inbolt, the robot intelligence company that turns digital twins into live robot control, is launching two new capabilities that complete the company’s AI vision model for robot guidance: Inbolt Robot Programming and an expanded Inbolt Robot Control. The launch pad is booth #1675 at Automate 2026 in Chicago, June 22-25.

Rudy Cohen, CEO and co-founder of Inbolt, says: “Robot deployment still takes weeks because the digital twin never matches the real factory floor, engineers hand-tune every trajectory during commissioning.

“With Robot Programming, the Vision Model, and Robot Control on a single platform, that gap closes; Engineers build the program from the CAD, our vision model locates the real part, and the robot executes the planned path.  [Read more…] about Inbolt to launch vision-enabled robot programming at Automate event

CVPR 2026 fields 16,000+ paper submissions on technical advances in AI

May 27, 2026 by Sam Francis

The program committee of the 2026 Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR), one of the world’s leading artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision research events, has released the details of this year’s technical program.

Co-sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society (CS) and the Computer Vision Foundation (CVF), CVPR 2026 drew a record number of paper submissions – 16,092, a 24 percent increase over 2025. Through a rigorous peer-review process, about one-quarter were accepted to the program, resulting in 4,089 paper presentations.

“CVPR submissions have more than doubled over the past five years, but the acceptance rate has remained highly competitive, consistently in the low-to-mid 20 percent range,” said Alexander G. Schwing, associate professor, electrical and computer engineering, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, CVPR 2026 program co-chair.
