Navimow responds to growing hedgehogs safety concerns with AI avoidance technology

May 12, 2026 by David Edwards

A recent Guardian report has revealed concerns around wildlife and use of robotic lawn mowers. Recent studies have highlighted the threat lawnmowers pose to wildlife at night time, and as a result, the mayor of German town Lüneburg has called for a nationwide ban on night-time use of robot lawnmowers to protect hedgehogs and other small nocturnal animals.

With robotic lawn mowers becoming increasingly common across UK and European households, concerns around accidental harm to nocturnal animals, particularly hedgehogs, have intensified.

In response, Segway Navimow has developed advanced AI-enhanced obstacle avoidance systems capable of detecting and avoiding animals in real time. [Read more…] about Navimow responds to growing hedgehogs safety concerns with AI avoidance technology

Hello Robot unveils Stretch 4: A simply useful robot that puts people first

May 12, 2026 by David Edwards

Hello Robot, the team behind the Stretch mobile manipulation platform, have announced the release of Stretch 4.

Available now for $29,950, Stretch 4 is an open-source robotics platform designed for researchers, developers, and application engineers building the next wave of Physical AI applications for general purpose robotics.

“In the last few years, Physical AI has brought us videos of robots doing amazing stunts. But these videos are missing something critical – the people the robots are meant to benefit,” says Aaron Edsinger, co-founder and CEO of Hello Robot. Amazon acquires Fauna Robotics as it expands into home humanoid robots

March 26, 2026 by Sam Francis

Amazon has acquired New York-based startup Fauna Robotics, signaling a move beyond its traditional focus on warehouse automation into consumer-facing humanoid robots.

The deal, first reported by Bloomberg and covered by Silicon Republic and Euronews, involves Fauna’s team of roughly 50 employees joining Amazon’s Personal Robotics Group. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Fauna, founded in 2024, developed a humanoid robot called “Sprout”, designed to operate in shared human environments such as homes, schools and public spaces. The machine, approximately one meter tall and built with soft materials, is intended to be approachable and safe for interaction. Exclusive interview with Vorago Technologies: The risks of failure in home robots

July 18, 2025 by David Edwards

As home robotics begins to step beyond research labs and factory floors into everyday environments, the technology powering them is under new scrutiny – particularly the chips at their core.

At this year’s Automatica trade show, several companies, including Neura Robotics (main image), unveiled new humanoid systems designed to operate in close proximity to people – in homes, care settings, and public spaces. While much attention has focused on the mechanical dexterity and AI capabilities of these robots, there’s another crucial layer that’s often overlooked: semiconductor reliability.
