Hello Robot unveils Stretch 4: A simply useful robot that puts people first

May 12, 2026 by David Edwards

Hello Robot, the team behind the Stretch mobile manipulation platform, have announced the release of Stretch 4.

Available now for $29,950, Stretch 4 is an open-source robotics platform designed for researchers, developers, and application engineers building the next wave of Physical AI applications for general purpose robotics.

“In the last few years, Physical AI has brought us videos of robots doing amazing stunts. But these videos are missing something critical – the people the robots are meant to benefit,” says Aaron Edsinger, co-founder and CEO of Hello Robot. Social and companion robots: More than just machines?

October 31, 2025 by Sam Francis

For decades, robots were built to weld, lift, inspect, and assemble. Their world was the industrial floor – structured tasks, predictable environments, and a focus on efficiency.

That paradigm is shifting. A new category of machines is emerging, designed not to move pallets or operate tools but to interact, comfort, teach, and keep people company.

Social and companion robots occupy a different space in the automation landscape. Instead of replacing physical labour, they augment human relationships, taking on roles traditionally associated with caregivers, teachers, receptionists, and even friends. EEVE to unveil garden robot you teach by example, not programming

May 28, 2025 by Mai Tao

EEVE is preparing to unveil Willow X, a humanoid-style garden robot you literally teach by example, no programming needed. Simply demonstrate a task once and Willow X copies you; repeat a few times and she’ll execute it autonomously.

With a planned price of just €8,990, a fraction of the €40,000 cost of comparable humanoid robots, Willow X makes personal robotics radically more accessible.

The launch is set for this summer, with pre-orders starting as of today at eeve.com and first deliveries planned for August–September. [Read more…] about EEVE to unveil garden robot you teach by example, not programming

Pudu Robotics launches new AI-powered cleaning robot for large-scale commercial use

May 28, 2025 by Mai Tao

Pudu Robotics has launched its latest autonomous cleaning machine, the CC1 Pro, designed to serve large-scale commercial facilities such as retail centers, hospitals, airports, and industrial warehouses.

The new model builds on the company’s earlier CC1 unit, expanding its cleaning range and incorporating more advanced AI-driven features.

The CC1 Pro combines four cleaning functions – sweeping, scrubbing, vacuuming, and dust-mopping – and uses onboard AI to adjust its operations in real time. [Read more…] about Pudu Robotics launches new AI-powered cleaning robot for large-scale commercial use

Rice Robotics partners with crypto game thingy company Floki to launch ‘companion robot’

May 8, 2025 by Mark Allinson

Rice Robotics, a Hong Kong-based robotics startup, has launched an AI-powered companion robot, the Minibot M1, developed in partnership with Floki, which is sort of like a cryptocurrency company or game which has cryptocurrency within it – or something.

Apologies, but we’re not sure what kind of company Floki is. It’s probably best described as an online games company. Or is it a cryptocurrency company? We’re confused.

Anyway, the robot Floki and Rice Robotics have launched will operate on the decentralized Rice AI protocol and integrate features designed to support everyday tasks and foster emotional interaction with users. Roborock unveils robotic vacuum cleaner with arm at CES

January 6, 2025 by Mark Allinson

Roborock, a provider of home robotics, used the ongoing CES event to launch the Saros Z70, which it describes as “the world’s first mass-produced robot vacuum cleaner equipped with an OmniGrip intelligent and foldable robotic arm”.

And at first glance, I thought, “Why didn’t I think of that? It’s a brilliant idea.”

The innovation is similar to what is called an industrial mobile robot, where an autonomous mobile robot is fitted with a collaborative robotic arm. [Read more…] about Roborock unveils robotic vacuum cleaner with arm at CES
