Eternal.ag scales fully-autonomous harvesting robots with first customer Van Noord Growers

June 5, 2026 by Sam Francis

The German agritech startup eternal.ag has deployed its fully-autonomous greenhouse harvesting robot, Harvester, to the Dutch grower, Van Noord Growers, as part of a long-term agreement.

Van Noord Growers, located in Zeeland in the Netherlands, produces both tomatoes and cucumbers across a total 8.5-hectare site. It has been operating the Harvester robot, specialized in truss tomatoes, since September 2025 and is now set to expand its fleet to a total of three this summer following a successful initial period.

With eternal.ag’s plug and play approach, the Harvester has been integrated into Van Noord’s operations from day one. The fully-autonomous Harvester is designed to operate for up to 22 hours per day, 7 days a week, and harvests trusses using an AI layer to ensure ripeness, consistency and clean cutting. Méca-Précis utilizes robotic measurement cell to eliminate inspection bottlenecks

June 5, 2026 by Sam Francis

French precision engineering company Méca-Précis has automated part inspection using a robotic measurement cell that combines a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) from Mitutoyo with automation technology from a company called Engineering Data.

The system was introduced after inspection processes became a bottleneck as production volumes increased, particularly for aerospace and space-sector customers that require 100 percent dimensional inspection of every part before and after surface treatment.

Founded in 1975 and based in Châtillon-sur-Indre, Méca-Précis employs 45 people and operates 25 machine tools, including 18 CNC machines. [Read more…] about Méca-Précis utilizes robotic measurement cell to eliminate inspection bottlenecks

Kirisense wins funding to develop robotic fingertips that can sense touch and slip

June 5, 2026 by Sam Francis

UK robotics startup Kirisense has secured funding from the Henry Royce Institute to develop advanced tactile sensing technology designed to give robots a more human-like sense of touch.

The project, supported through the Henry Royce Institute’s Industrial Collaboration Programme and delivered in partnership with the University of Sheffield, will focus on creating robotic fingertips capable of detecting shear forces and slip in real time.

The funding comes as the robotics industry increasingly turns its attention from perception to manipulation. While advances in artificial intelligence and machine vision have significantly improved what robots can see and understand, handling objects reliably remains one of the sector’s biggest challenges. Europe’s most important industrial lubrication conference celebrates its 10th anniversary in Bilbao

June 5, 2026 by Sam Francis

Europe’s most important conference on industrial lubricants will celebrate its 10th anniversary at the Euskalduna Convention Centre in Bilbao.

On Wednesday and Thursday of this week, 200 professionals from Europe, Asia and America will attend this new edition of LUBMAT, a leading international biennial event specialising in lubricants, tribology and production equipment monitoring.

For two consecutive days, companies, manufacturers, technology centres and researchers will share the sector’s most recent scientific and technological innovations to address challenges such as sustainability, digitisation and industrial efficiency. The forum is co-organised by the Tekniker technology centre, the Jost Institute for Tribotechnology of the United Kingdom, Bureau Veritas and ATTEN2.

Currently rated as one of Europe’s main meeting points for the lubrication industry and R&D, LUBMAT 2026 features an extensive scientific and technical programme focused on areas such as advanced lubricants, friction and wear reduction, condition-based maintenance, online equipment monitoring, smart sensors, AI applied to industrial maintenance and the development of solutions that are safer and more sustainable. Volvo and Boliden complete dam construction milestone with autonomous transport

June 4, 2026 by Sam Francis

Volvo Autonomous Solutions and Boliden have completed the autonomous transport project at Boliden’s Garpenberg site in Sweden.

The project was the first step under the memorandum of understanding signed between Volvo and Boliden in 2023, and it marks an important milestone in a collaboration that also includes future projects.

As a part of the project, material was moved from an on-site quarry on Boliden premises and used to reinforce a local dam and heighten the dam wall. [Read more…] about Volvo and Boliden complete dam construction milestone with autonomous transport

Why robotics can’t advance without physical AI

June 4, 2026 by Sam Francis

The next leap in robotics won’t come from faster processors or more sophisticated mechanical design. It will come from better data, specifically, from training environments that replicate how the physical world actually behaves.  [Read more…] about Why robotics can’t advance without physical AI

Interview with GFT Technologies’ Brandon Speweik: Moving AI from detection to action on the factory floor

June 4, 2026 by Sam Francis

Artificial intelligence has become one of the most widely discussed technologies in manufacturing, but much of the conversation remains focused on software – dashboards, analytics, predictive models, and digital decision-making tools.

Increasingly, however, manufacturers are asking a more practical question: how can AI move beyond identifying problems and begin helping to solve them on the factory floor?

That challenge is particularly relevant in the automotive industry, where production lines operate at high speed and even small quality issues can have significant downstream consequences. Improving efficiency in modern construction projects

June 4, 2026 by Sam Francis

You notice it early on a job site when efficiency starts to slip. Small delays often build into larger setbacks that affect the whole schedule.

In modern construction, you work in an environment where margins depend on timing as much as skill. Rising material costs and tighter deadlines push you to think more carefully about how every stage connects.

By improving efficiency, you don’t just speed things up – you reduce waste, keep teams focused, and make it easier to deliver projects that stay on budget without adding pressure to already stretched crews. [Read more…] about Improving efficiency in modern construction projects

Interview with CreateMe CEO Campbell Myers: From stitching to bonding – physical AI could transform the way clothes are made

June 4, 2026 by Sam Francis

For decades, apparel manufacturing has remained one of the most labor-intensive sectors in global industry. While robots have transformed automotive production, electronics assembly, and warehouse operations, handling soft, deformable materials such as fabric has proven far more difficult to automate.

Textiles stretch, wrinkle, drape, and shift unpredictably, creating challenges that traditional industrial automation systems were never designed to solve.

As interest in embodied AI and physical AI continues to grow, many researchers and technology companies see deformable-material manipulation as one of the most important remaining frontiers in robotics.
