PlusAI says it has reached 93.4 percent “Safety Case Readiness” as the autonomous trucking company moves toward the planned commercial launch of factory-built driverless trucks in 2027.
The company has published updated performance figures for the first half of 2026, showing improvements in safety validation, autonomous driving and the number of journeys completed without assistance from remote operators.
PlusAI says it expects to reach 100 percent Safety Case Readiness in 2027, ahead of commercial deployment of trucks equipped with its SuperDrive autonomous driving system.
“Every six months we publish our commercial readiness metrics because they provide a transparent view into our progress,” said David Liu, CEO and co-founder of PlusAI.
“The operational improvements combined with the commercial milestones our team has achieved recently show that PlusAI is making measurable progress toward deploying factory-built autonomous trucks at commercial scale.”
Safety Case Readiness increased to 93.4 percent in the first half of 2026, compared with 90.1 percent in the second half of 2025.
The proportion of miles driven autonomously during commercial operations, which PlusAI calls Autonomous Miles Percentage, increased from 99.2 percent to 99.8 percent.
Remote Assistance Free Trips – the proportion of trips completed without intervention from a remote operator – increased from 79 percent to 85.2 percent.
PlusAI is targeting more than 90 percent of trips without remote assistance before commercial launch.
The company has also expanded its real-world operations during the first half of the year.
It launched a commercial autonomous fleet trial with International and Ryder on the I-35 freight corridor in Texas and announced plans to introduce autonomous trucks in Southern Europe through a collaboration with Spanish logistics company Sesé and the Government of Aragon.
PlusAI also released SuperDrive 6.0, adding improvements to its AI and processing capabilities as well as support for night driving and navigating construction zones.
The company expanded its work with Nvidia to use the company’s Alpamayo foundation model, Drive Hyperion platform and Halos safety technologies. It also achieved four ISO certifications and expanded commercialization partnerships in Europe and Japan.
“Commercializing autonomous trucks requires more than a capable AI system,” said Shawn Kerrigan, COO and co-founder of PlusAI.
“It requires proving that the system is safe, reliable and operationally efficient while working closely with OEMs, fleets and ecosystem partners. Our progress across these metrics, together with the commercial milestones we’ve achieved this year, reflects the maturity of both our technology and our commercialization strategy.”
PlusAI defines Safety Case Readiness as its progress toward completing the engineering evidence required to support safe commercial deployment.
The company’s Remote Assistance Free Trips metric measures how frequently trucks can complete journeys without intervention from a remote operator, while Autonomous Miles Percentage measures the proportion of miles driven autonomously during commercial operations.
Over the past six months, PlusAI has continued validating SuperDrive with global truck manufacturers using factory-built vehicles.
The company is pursuing a commercialization strategy based on integrating its autonomous driving technology into trucks produced by established manufacturers rather than retrofitting vehicles after production.
PlusAI works with manufacturers and industry partners including Scania, MAN, International, Hyundai Motor Company and Iveco Group, as well as Ryder, Bosch, DSV and Goodyear.
The company says its latest results keep it on track for commercial deployment of factory-built autonomous trucks in 2027.
