Europe’s most important industrial lubrication conference celebrates its 10th anniversary in Bilbao

June 5, 2026 by Sam Francis

Europe’s most important conference on industrial lubricants will celebrate its 10th anniversary at the Euskalduna Convention Centre in Bilbao.

On Wednesday and Thursday of this week, 200 professionals from Europe, Asia and America will attend this new edition of LUBMAT, a leading international biennial event specialising in lubricants, tribology and production equipment monitoring.

For two consecutive days, companies, manufacturers, technology centres and researchers will share the sector’s most recent scientific and technological innovations to address challenges such as sustainability, digitisation and industrial efficiency. The forum is co-organised by the Tekniker technology centre, the Jost Institute for Tribotechnology of the United Kingdom, Bureau Veritas and ATTEN2.

Currently rated as one of Europe’s main meeting points for the lubrication industry and R&D, LUBMAT 2026 features an extensive scientific and technical programme focused on areas such as advanced lubricants, friction and wear reduction, condition-based maintenance, online equipment monitoring, smart sensors, AI applied to industrial maintenance and the development of solutions that are safer and more sustainable. Japan promotes Osaka as a gateway for robotics and technology investment

June 4, 2026 by Sam Francis

Japan is stepping up efforts to attract overseas technology companies and investors to Osaka, positioning the city as an alternative gateway to the Japanese market and a potential hub for innovation in sectors such as robotics, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and advanced manufacturing.

The initiative is being led by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), a government-backed agency that promotes trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world.

Following Expo 2025 Osaka, JETRO is highlighting a range of programs designed to help foreign companies establish operations in the Osaka and Kansai region. [Read more…] about Japan promotes Osaka as a gateway for robotics and technology investment

The expertise leak: Why high-growth technical operations are bottlenecked by admin bloat

June 2, 2026 by Sam Francis

Robotics and automation companies are growing faster than ever, yet most run headfirst into the same problem: Top engineers lose precious time handling admin work instead of solving real technical challenges.

Whether it’s project tracking or juggling vendors, all this extra administration quietly saps expertise from technical teams and drags down innovation across the industry.

Speed is everything in robotics and automation. The winners are usually the folks who get from prototype to deployment without tripping over operational messes. But there’s an issue inside all these fast-growing tech companies that isn’t talked about enough: Expertise leak. Perspective from Harting: The industrial reality check – why factory winners execute, not just innovate

May 22, 2026 by Sam Francis

Rodriques Johnpeter, global industry segment manager, Harting

Manufacturers are operating in a moment where disruption is the norm, not the exception. Supply chain volatility, inflationary pressure and labor constraints all collide with a parallel push to embed automation and AI into plants that were never designed for today’s technologies.

Most facilities – well over two-thirds globally – are still brownfield sites, built around legacy machines, heterogeneous controls and fragile integrations that have been patched together over decades.

These environments leave almost no room for extended downtime or wholesale rip-and-replace projects, which is where many digital transformation strategies quietly break down. [Read more…] about Perspective from Harting: The industrial reality check – why factory winners execute, not just innovate

Delta breaks ground on new sustainable development center in Emmendingen, Germany

October 21, 2025 by Sam Francis

Delta Electronics, a global company with interests in robotics and green power solutions, has celebrated the groundbreaking of its new development center in Emmendingen, near Freiburg, in Germany.

The new facility, scheduled for completion in early 2027, will provide approximately 7,480 square meters for over 200 R&D, engineering, business development, and management talent to support future expansion, invest in local talent, foster collaboration, and accelerate product innovation for both local and international markets.

Delta’s own smart energy-saving solutions will support the new building to attain the DGNB Gold Certification for sustainable construction – a benchmark for energy efficiency and environmental performance in Germany. Eclipse Automation demonstrates cyber-physical systems to Manufacturing Leadership Council Members

October 21, 2025 by Sam Francis

Eclipse Automation, a specialist in custom factory automation, brought the future of manufacturing to life last week, hosting more than 50 Manufacturing Leadership Council (MLC) members at its Cambridge, Ontario facility for an immersive day exploring how digital and physical technologies – sometimes referred to as “cyber-physical systems” – are converging to redefine factory operations.

The event welcomed senior manufacturing executives from Fortune 1000 companies, joined by Eclipse engineers, technology partners, and industry innovators, to explore the challenges and opportunities shaping the next decade of manufacturing.

Steve Mai, CEO of Eclipse Automation, says: “This event was an opportunity to reframe how manufacturing leaders think about the factory itself. Hosting the best minds in the industry allowed us to showcase our technology and explore what’s possible today, but also what’s necessary for tomorrow. $50 million funding sparks ‘manufacturing technology breakthroughs’ in Ontario

September 9, 2025 by Mai Tao

Companies in four key sectors of Ontario’s economy – advanced manufacturing, agri-food, mining and construction – have been given a significant boost, thanks to a $50 million funding and support program by the Ontario government, led by the Ontario Centre of Innovation (OCI).

One year after its launch, OCI’s Critical Industrial Technologies (CIT) program – which includes up to $1 million for company collaborations and $100,000 for individual businesses to support research and development, equipment purchases, product testing, talent, upskilling and reskilling – has fast-tracked the commercialization of more than 100 emerging technologies that are helping to advance Ontario’s manufacturing competitiveness on the global stage.

OCI president and CEO Claudia Krywiak will highlight some of these success stories and unveil funding and support opportunities still available to Ontario manufacturers – both large and small – as a speaker at the Canadian Manufacturing Technology Show (CMTS) 2025, Canada’s national industry event which takes place at the Toronto Congress Centre from September 29 to October 2.
