Amazon adds two new robots, including one humanoid, to the 750,000 already working in its warehouses

October 18, 2023 by Mark Allinson

Amazon has revealed that it now has over 750,000 robots working collaboratively with employees, taking on highly repetitive tasks and freeing employees up to “better deliver for our customers”.

With all of these efforts under way, Amazon has just launched a new robotic system in time to help fulfill customer orders for holiday shopping this year. Sequoia is the name of this new technology, and it’s now operating at one of the fulfillment centers in Houston, Texas.

By reimagining how the company stores and manages inventory at its sites, Sequoia will help Amazon delight customers with greater speed and increased accuracy for delivery estimates, while also improving employee safety at the company’s facilities. Rivelin Robotics CEO hails Hardware as a Service as ‘transformative concept’

October 18, 2023 by Mark Allinson

By Robert Bush, CEO, Rivelin Robotics

Across the ever-evolving landscape of technology and business, Hardware as a Service (HaaS) is proving to be a transformative concept. The world at large has become familiar and comfortable with software delivered as a service commodity via subscription model both for professional organisations and individuals.

This has laid the foundation for a similar approach to hardware service contracts, which are increasingly being viewed as a savvy way to scale up in-house capabilities without huge capital expenditure.

This innovative approach to managing hardware needs is changing the way many manufacturing organisations handle their hardware portfolios and associated service contracts. [Read more…] about Rivelin Robotics CEO hails Hardware as a Service as ‘transformative concept’

Deep Robotics launches new quadruped robot

October 18, 2023 by David Edwards

Deep Robotics, a developer of quadrupedal robots, has launched its X30 quadruped robot, a “flagship product” designed to meet core industry needs in multiple fields, including inspection of power stations, factories, pipeline corridors, emergency rescue, fire detection, scientific research and more.

X30 incorporates Deep Robotics’ “unique fusion perception technology that enables it to rapidly traverse obstacles, navigate open riser industrial stairs in challenging, changing environments, conduct autonomous inspection day and night in any weather, and overcome other difficulties in an ever-growing number of scenarios”.

X30 is also able to respond quickly to unexpected situations or handle tasks at a moment’s notice. Compared to earlier editions of the quadruped robot, the operating temperature range of X30 has been extended to between minus 20°C and plus 55°C, greatly broadening the environment and climatic conditions in which it can operate.
