Universal Robots reaches 1,000 employees

Seventeen years after it was founded by three visionary young researchers in a basement, Universal Robots has just reached a 1,000-employee milestone.

10th November, Odense, Denmark. Universal Robots, the biggest company in a fast-growing Danish robotics hub, has become the cluster’s first organisation to reach 1,000 employees – one of only a few Danish companies founded in this millennium to hit this milestone.

Universal Robots and Mobile Industrial Robots to break new ground at new site

In a few weeks, construction will begin on state-of-the-art joint headquarters for Universal Robots and Mobile Industrial Robots in Odense, Denmark.

The building will accommodate up to 600 employees and will be the “world’s largest cobot and autonomous mobile robot hub”. Groundbreaking will take place on 20 April with completion expected at the start of 2024.

Teradyne to build ‘world’s largest’ collaborative robotics hub at a cost of $36 million

Teradyne has embarked on a project to build what it says will be “the world’s largest collaborative robotics hub” when it is finished. 

The facility (main illustration) is located in Denmark and its eventual cost is estimated at approximately $36 million.

Denmark’s minister of industry, business and financial affairs, Simon Kollerup, unveiled what will become the new home of Teradyne’s robotics business units, Mobile Industrial Robots and Universal Robots, both of which it acquired in the past year or so. Blue Ocean Robotics, said to be the “world’s first” robot venture factory, has raised almost $12 million to develop its position in the service robotics market.

Blue Ocean Robotics is entering new robot markets with service robots for the healthcare, hospitality, construction and agriculture industries.

Universal Robots and Mobile Industrial Robots open collaborative automation center in Spain

Two of the most well-known robotics companies have jointly opened a collaborative automation center in Barcelona, Spain. 

Universal Robots, the maker of the best-selling collaborative robotic arms, and Mobile Industrial Robots, which makes mobile robots for warehouses, say the new facility will help promote collaborative automation in southern Europe.

The biggest event for direct investment in Odense, home to the world-famous Danish robotics cluster, Odense Investor Summit 19, takes place June 26.

The event offers a unique opportunity to see the most promising and exciting technologies in the fields of robotics, drones and health tech plus access to fellow investors and investor networks.

With the prospect of an estimated 2-300 per cent growth by 2025, the Danish robotics cluster has a unique appeal to international investors.
