AutoGuide Mobile Robots recently organised a series of webinars in association with Robotics and Automation News. All three webinars contained expert advice for deploying autonomous mobile robots at your facility and took place in November, December and January. A recording of all three webinars is available here. [Read more…] about Looking to deploy autonomous mobile robots?
ams (SIX: AMS), a leading worldwide supplier of high performance sensor solutions, and Senova, a manufacturer of in-vitro diagnostic medical devices based in Germany, has announced that they have successfully opened a production line for lateral flow tests which will be used to detect antibodies from the Covid-19 (SARS-CoV-2) virus. In Weimar, Thuringia, and under strict Covid-19 social distancing, ams and Senova opened the line and congratulated the teams who worked hard to bring the idea to production in less than nine months. You need to move material but moving that material is risky business. Ninety percent of all forklifts in the US will be in an accident during their useful life, and almost 35,000 people per year suffer severe injuries in forklift-related incidents.
Accidents happen and people are injured when a forklift driver’s view is obscured by the load they’re carrying. It happens all the time but there’s a better way.
Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs). Robots that can navigate autonomously along pre-determined paths using only the natural features of the facility. They have built-in sensors and LiDAR scanners that detect objects and personnel in their path to substantially reduce accidents of all kinds. Geek+, a manufacturer of autonomous mobile robots, has been chosen by Catch.com.au, one of Australia’s leading online retailers, to provide more than 100 AMRs through its global integration partner Körber.
The companies say the partnership is bringing new opportunities for the e-commerce marketplace in Australia and New Zealand.
In the past year, Catch.com.au has seen its already rapidly growing business expand with thousands of additional SKUs being added to its already extensive range of brands and products. AutoGuide is once again partnering with Robotics and Automation News to bring you their latest webinar. Brought to you on Thursday, 10th December at 4 pm, European time. Efficiency and safety are often said to be the cornerstones of the autonomous mobile robot (AMR) advantage but what this really mean? Safe implementation of AMRs presents opportunities for increased productivity, improved worker conditions, and (surprise) faster ROI. The next evolution of industrial robots is here and they are autonomous. Traditionally manned forklifts have been used to transport materials.
The first step into autonomy was automated guided vehicles (AGVs), which require substantial infrastructure to be useful. We now have a new generation of industrial vehicles – autonomous mobile robots (AMRs).
They are fully autonomous and guided by natural features already present in a facility. They require very little effort to deploy so bringing them into your operation is not as hard as you might think.
With a few key pieces of information, you can understand how AMRs can transform your operation and what steps you’ll need to take to make this a reality. [Read more…] about Why AMRs Make Sense

AutoGuide is partnering with Robotics and Automation News in their latest webinar. If you are thinking about bringing AMR’s into your operation there are a number of things you should be aware of. AMRs dramatically increase the efficiency and safety of your operation but what do you need to know before bringing them into your enterprise? The experts from AutoGuide will share their knowledge and experience on: [Read more…] about The Five Things You Must Know Before Bringing AMRs into Your Operation
Nord Modules has announced the Quick Mover 180, which it is calling the most flexible and easy-to-deploy top module to enable autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) to perform multiple material handling tasks. When coupled with Nord’s automated load-transfer gates with collaborative robot (cobot) arms, the space-efficient QM180 creates the first fully autonomous material handling system, with material flowing seamlessly from production lines to the AMR to the warehouse. This autonomy—along with the QM180’s speed, space and flexibility benefits—optimizes logistics, increases productivity, lowers overall costs and delivers a superior return on investment.
With a single top module, the QM180 handles a plethora of materials—gates, half pallets, plastic boxes, carton boxes, carts and cobot solutions. Without changing top modules, this unmatched flexibility gives manufacturers the ability to: [Read more…] about Nord Modules Fully Automates Material Handling
At its Contract Logistics site in Pardubice, DB Schenker has implemented a new autonomous mobile robot (AMR). In a warehouse the robot named MiR Hook 200 helps to detect and transport trolleys to make operations more efficient. The robot comes from the Danish technology company Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR) and was deployed in cooperation with DREAMland, a Czech distributor and integrator of autonomous and collaborative robots. While DB Schenker is using autonomous machines in various countries already, the new installation is the logistic company’s first robot in the Czech Republic.
Tomáš Holomoucký, DB Schenker Managing Director for the Czech Republic: “I am extremely pleased we have successfully implemented our first robot in our regular operations in the Czech Republic. Autonomous solutions such as this will enable us to optimize our logistics processes and relieve our staff by taking over simple warehouse tasks. We are proud to be driving innovation and building the warehouse of the future for our customers.”

Internal logistics is an indispensable part of the supply chain, especially in large manufacturing enterprises.
However, the tasks involved can also be quite repetitive. Humans can easily do such tasks, but that’s neither cost-effective nor efficient.
Why waste employee resources doing mundane and repetitive tasks when they can be automated? [Read more…] about Motor Controllers Used in Autonomous Mobile Robots
