Agility Robotics partners with FORT to strengthen safety systems for Digit 5

Agility Robotics, a humanoid robotics company, and FORT Robotics, a safety platform for machinery, have formed a a partnership to further advance the safety infrastructure of Digit 5, Agility’s next-generation humanoid robot engineered for cooperatively safe work at scale.

The partnership will deepen a historical, multi-year engagement that has grown from a single custom hardware component into an integrated, three-part safety architecture consisting of a safety pendant, on-robot communications, and off-robot interfaces connecting Digit with external safety systems.

The off-robot interface, jointly developed by FORT and Agility, is designed to extend Agility’s cooperative-safety approach beyond the robot itself, enhancing the onboard safety architecture already planned for Digit 5. Agility unveils Digit 5 humanoid as orders exceed $300 million ahead of public listing

Agility Robotics has unveiled Digit 5, the latest generation of its humanoid robot, as the company reports more than $300 million in multi-year customer orders and prepares to become a publicly traded company.

The new robot substantially expands the capabilities of Agility’s existing commercial platform, increasing payload by 40 percent and introducing interchangeable end effectors, faster autonomous charging and a new safety architecture designed to allow Digit to operate in close proximity to people.

Humanoid robot shipments forecast to surge to 26 million a year by 2040

According to a new research report from the IoT market research firm Berg Insight, the humanoid robotics industry has entered an early phase of long-term commercial growth.

Berg Insight estimates that annual shipments of humanoid robots will grow from 16,000 units in 2026 to 26.0 million units by 2040, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 63.7 percent.

Agility Robotics opens new Fremont facility to accelerate physical AI development

Agility Robotics, a humanoid robotics and physical AI company, has opened its new Fremont, California facility designed to accelerate physical AI developments that directly improve performance in customer operations.

The new site will serve as the company’s software and capabilities hub, where engineering teams will train, test and advance the AI technologies that enable Agility’s humanoid, Digit, to learn new skills and perform more sophisticated tasks in customer environments.

Agility Robotics to go public through $2.5 billion SPAC merger

Agility Robotics has agreed to go public through a merger with special purpose acquisition company Churchill Capital Corp XI, in a deal that values the humanoid robotics developer at a pre-money equity value of $2.5 billion.

The transaction is expected to generate more than $620 million in gross proceeds, including approximately $200 million from a private investment in public equity (PIPE) financing led by Foxconn, alongside existing and new institutional investors.
