Misumi launches Misumi Americas as part of $1 billion global manufacturing investment

June 5, 2026 by Sam Francis

Japanese industrial components supplier Misumi Group has launched Misumi Americas and announced a $1 billion (¥150 billion) global investment program aimed at expanding its digital manufacturing and supply chain capabilities.

The initiative combines Misumi’s industrial components business with the AI-powered manufacturing platform acquired through Fictiv, positioning the company as a broader manufacturing and supply chain partner rather than solely a parts supplier.

The expansion includes significant investment in the United States and marks the appointment of Dave Evans as the first American CEO of Misumi Americas. [Read more…] about Misumi launches Misumi Americas as part of $1 billion global manufacturing investment

OnRobot heads to Reno with automation solutions for northern Nevada’s manufacturing workforce challenge

March 19, 2026 by Sam Francis

As Northern Nevada’s manufacturing sector continues its rapid expansion, the region’s employers are confronting a growing challenge: a labor market that has nearly run out of slack.

OnRobot will host the “Build your Automation Roadmap” event in Reno on April 9th, bringing practical automation solutions directly to the region’s manufacturing community.

The free, in-person event is designed for manufacturers in sectors such as metal fabrication, CNC machining, electronics, aerospace, food and beverage, and industrial equipment manufacturing – industries that form the backbone of the Reno manufacturing economy and are among the hardest hit by ongoing labor shortages. Stuff MFG launches US silicone molding factory to ‘bring manufacturing back to the US’

February 2, 2026 by Sam Francis

Stuff Manufacturing is now officially operational, with production now under way on US-made consumer products at its new silicone-molding facility in Lake Elsinore, California.

Founded by Shark Tank entrepreneur Hans Dose after tariffs and global shipping delays threatened his own product business, Stuff MFG was built to give brands of all sizes a faster, more cost-effective domestic alternative to overseas manufacturing.

“Stuff was born out of necessity,” said Hans Dose, founder and CEO of Stuff MFG. “My company, Tenikle, was hit hard by the 25 percent tariffs on silicone goods from China. [Read more…] about Stuff MFG launches US silicone molding factory to ‘bring manufacturing back to the US’

State of Louisiana partners with Persona AI on humanoid robotics pilot at steel fabrication plant

February 2, 2026 by Sam Francis

The State of Louisiana has signed a memorandum of understanding with Persona AI to launch a humanoid robotics pilot program inside an active heavy-industry facility, marking what officials describe as a rare instance of a US state formally supporting humanoid robot development in a live industrial setting.

The pilot will be conducted at SSE Steel Fabrication’s large-scale steel fabrication facility in St Bernard Parish and will focus on collecting real-world data on human movement and task execution in a working manufacturing environment.

According to the announcement, the initiative is intended to support the development of humanoid robots capable of operating in environments “originally built for humans rather than redesigned for traditional automation”, including the use of existing tools, navigation across uneven terrain, and adaptation to changing shop-floor conditions.
