ANYbotics expands global presence with new engineering and AI hub in Barcelona

June 16, 2026 by Sam Francis

ANYbotics, a provider of AI-driven robotic inspection solutions, has opened a new office in Barcelona, Spain.

Located at the DFactory Barcelona campus, the new engineering and AI hub will be the company’s third global location, alongside Zurich and San Francisco, and will support accelerating demand for ANYbotics’ autonomous inspection solutions across asset-intensive, process sectors.

Today’s expansion follows a period of significant growth for ANYbotics, as companies in sectors including oil and gas, chemicals, utilities, and materials move from pilot projects to full-scale deployments of its autonomous inspection robots. Méca-Précis utilizes robotic measurement cell to eliminate inspection bottlenecks

June 5, 2026 by Sam Francis

French precision engineering company Méca-Précis has automated part inspection using a robotic measurement cell that combines a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) from Mitutoyo with automation technology from a company called Engineering Data.

The system was introduced after inspection processes became a bottleneck as production volumes increased, particularly for aerospace and space-sector customers that require 100 percent dimensional inspection of every part before and after surface treatment.

Founded in 1975 and based in Châtillon-sur-Indre, Méca-Précis employs 45 people and operates 25 machine tools, including 18 CNC machines. [Read more…] about Méca-Précis utilizes robotic measurement cell to eliminate inspection bottlenecks

GFT takes AI from visual inspection to physical action for auto manufacturers

May 18, 2026 by David Edwards

Global digital transformation company GFT Technologies has launched its new AI-powered robotic arms designed for automotive manufacturing.

Building on the company’s existing work with Google on AI-powered visual inspection, the new technology can not only detect defective parts but also physically remove them from the assembly line – helping manufacturers improve quality and keep production moving at full speed.

While many manufacturers have adopted AI for visual inspection, most systems stop at detection. Software can flag anomalies, but human intervention is still required to act on them, creating delays and increasing the risk of defective parts moving further down the line. Fugro strengthens offshore safety with new ROV test pool facility in Singapore

May 14, 2026 by David Edwards

Fugro has successfully commissioned its new remotely operated vehicle (ROV) test pool in Singapore. This strengthens the company’s in‑house capability to undertake controlled testing, verification and validation of equipment, systems and operational methodologies.

The facility represents a key milestone in improving technical assurance and reducing execution risk across marine and offshore projects.

The test pool provides a controlled environment for functional testing, system integration, calibration and pre-deployment before field deployment. [Read more…] about Fugro strengthens offshore safety with new ROV test pool facility in Singapore

Crack Detection in Stainless Steel Tanks Using Robotic Technology

April 10, 2026 by Sam Francis

Ensuring the structural integrity of stainless steel vessels is a critical requirement in industries such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals or food processing.

Even minor cracks in weld seams, stress zones, or highly loaded components can compromise operational safety, product quality, and regulatory compliance.

In recent years, robotic inspection technology has emerged as an increasingly effective method for detecting cracks and material defects in industrial tanks and process vessels while reducing inspection time and human risk. Robotic inspection: Nasa testing new system for checking and fixing aircraft fuselages

January 29, 2018 by Sam Francis

Nasa robotic inspection-RoboDK-software

Inspecting the outer shell of an aeroplane sounds so mind-numbingly boring that it absolutely must be one of those so-called “3D” – dirty, dull and dangerous – jobs that robots are supposed to save us from.

The absolute tedium of closely inspecting every square centimetre of the surface area of, for example, a typical Boeing 747 – which is about 22,000 square feet – would inevitably mean that some tiny imperfections can be missed by human eyes.

But could robots do the job any better?  [Read more…] about Robotic inspection: Nasa testing new system for checking and fixing aircraft fuselages
