Comau unveils new ‘perception-based’ robotic picking solution

September 5, 2023 by David Edwards

Robotics and automation specialist Comau has launched what it calls the “MI.RA/Picker”, describing as an intelligent advanced automation solution for perception-based random bin picking.

Adaptable to any brand of commercial robot, customized bin or customized gripper, the fully automated picking solution uses two high-resolution laser sensors and a central camera to autonomously recognize, locate and grasp randomly placed objects at a rate of up to 40 pieces per minute (PPM).

Furthermore, its streamlined virtual simulation tools and predictive algorithms guarantee optimal path management and collision-free trajectories, for precise and reliable performance while lowering costs and potential risks. Carnegie Mellon builds killer robot to save economy

September 5, 2023 by David Edwards

A team from Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute has developed an autonomous robot to find and kill dangerously spotted lanternflies before they’re even born. Spotted lanternflies are invasive insects known to destroy economically important crops. (See video below.)

TartanPest uses an all-electric tractor, a robotic arm and computer vision to traverse fields and forests while it detects and destroys spotted lanternfly egg masses.

The egg masses – which contain 30-50 eggs and are often found on trees, rocks, outdoor furniture and rusty metal surfaces – are laid in the fall and hatch in the spring, birthing a new generation of the pests each year. [Read more…] about Carnegie Mellon builds killer robot to save economy

Burnout is on the Rise – Here’s How to Spot it

August 23, 2023 by Mark Allinson

Many people experience problems at their work from time to time. And it’s not unusual for people to feel stressed due to their jobs on occasion, too.

However, while a small amount of job-related stress is fine, if the issue becomes too severe or doesn’t go away, then you may be at risk of burnout. You’ll likely have heard of this condition, which has been on the rise in recent years.

It’s important to be aware of what causes burnout and the signs, both of which will help you to keep it at bay. As with most things, it’s easier to prevent burnout than manage it – though be aware that it’s not a permanent condition and is easily treatable. Analyzing the Role of Defective Products in a Personal Injury Case

August 23, 2023 by David Edwards

Waterbury is a city in Connecticut well-known for its manufacturing facilities due to its location between the Naugatuck River and the lengthy stretch of Interstate 84.

Sadly, this also means a greater potential for defective products that could result in harm. Accidents involving heavy gear at construction sites and faulty consumer products are two examples that fuel personal injury cases inside the state’s legal sphere.

This article examines the function and significance of defective products linked to personal injury lawsuits in this bustling metropolis. [Read more…] about Analyzing the Role of Defective Products in a Personal Injury Case
