Chipotle pilots robots at key restaurants

November 3, 2022 by Mark Allinson

Chipotle Mexican Grill, one of the largest restaurant chains in the US, is piloting advanced technologies such as robotics to enhance its employee and guest experience by streamlining operations and reducing friction.

The company recently began piloting two new technologies in its restaurants to deliver precise forecasting, optimal quality, and increased convenience for digital guests.

In select Southern California restaurants, Chipotle is piloting a cook to needs kitchen management system that provides demand-based cooking and ingredient preparation forecasts to optimize throughput and freshness while minimizing food waste. Robotics in Dentistry: The Next Generation Technology

November 3, 2022 by Mark Allinson

Robots are now utilized in every field of research thanks to technological breakthroughs; they have even found their way into dentistry due to the capacity for precision work without being fatigued. Hamilton dentist Dr. Moninder Tuli, chatted with us and provided us with information about the usage of robotics in dentistry.

The use of robots in dentistry is quite astounding. It can be debated that one of the most astonishing creations of modern civilization is the robot, a tool that can imitate living things. Robots shorten the time it takes to perform a task, increase production, and decrease human error.

Robotics is a revolutionary technology that will alter dental medicine’s diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Robots can do repetitive tasks for an endless amount of time while improving the overall level and scope of medical care.

The most recent medical robots can conduct clinical intervention or remote patient monitoring independently since robotic systems have evolved dramatically over the previous ten years. [Read more…] about Robotics in Dentistry: The Next Generation Technology

Acura VIN Decoder Guide

November 2, 2022 by Mark Allinson

The VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) is a serial number with 17 characters. This number is unique to each Acura vehicle and, when decoded, provides a piece of full detailed information about the vehicle.

Before the authorization of the production of the Acura in 1986, the vehicle identification number was already in existence. VINs were first used in American cars in 1954.

The initiative began after a meeting that involved the then Automobile Manufacturers Association which had been dissolved, and the car manufacturers in the United States. [Read more…] about Acura VIN Decoder Guide

Robot cell guarding: When adaptability trumps strength

November 2, 2022 by Mark Allinson

Luke Wilkinson, design and product development manager at Matara, looks at the growing use of aluminium over steel in robot guard frames and the reasons behind its rising popularity

It is estimated that there are around 23,000 robots operating in industrial settings in the UK. The automotive sector is the largest user employing over 9,000, with the food and drink sector recently rising to second place.

With their ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately, swiftly and consistently, it’s not hard to understand why the use of robots across industry is growing. A survey conducted by the British Automation & Robot Association showed sales of robots in the UK to be 7.5% higher in 2020 from the previous year.

Whilst the benefits of using robots in industrial settings are clear, it’s important to take into account the potential safety risk they pose; not of a science fiction nature, but a very real, present in the here and now type risk that primarily stems from people accidentally getting in their way which can have serious consequences if the machine is fast moving, carrying a heavy payload and so on. Skyline Robotics uses Kuka industrial robot to clean skyscraper windows

November 1, 2022 by David Edwards

Skyline Robotics says it has succeeded in automating window washing for the world’s skyscrapers – a task that has been done manually for over 100 years.

To automate the window-cleaning task, Skyline developed “Ozmo”, a system that combines an industrial robot, computerized vision system, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning technologies.

What formerly required three to four months of manual labor, Ozmo does automatically in about half the time. But most importantly, the system ensures safety by removing human workers from the window washing platform or “basket”. Foundry workers given ‘robotic’ glove to improve grip and protect hands

October 28, 2022 by Mark Allinson

Waupaca Foundry is using an innovative adaptive technology to support workers who manually grind iron castings in the foundry. The “Ironhand” glove is claimed to be the world’s first soft exoskeleton designed for the human hand to improve grip strength and reduce effort.

The system was tested at the iron casting supplier’s Etowah, Tennessee casting finishing plant and is currently in trials at the Marinette, Wisconsin ductile iron foundry.

The system consists of a glove covering all five fingers, and a power pack worn in a backpack or hip-carry. It is activated when the operator starts moving his/her hand to perform a task, using sensors located on the palm and on the fingers.
