Infineon and Reality AI teach cars how to ‘hear’

June 1, 2021 by Sam Francis Leave a Comment

Today’s advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are based on cameras, radar or lidar. As a result, their target objects need to be within the line of sight to be recognized by the system.

This, however, turns into a weakness when it comes to emergency vehicles – they can be heard much earlier than they can be seen and thus are invisible to ADAS for a longer time.

To address this challenge, Infineon Technologies together with Reality AI created an advanced sensing solution giving vehicles the sense of hearing. [Read more…] about Infineon and Reality AI teach cars how to ‘hear’

Infineon and Synopsys partner to develop AI chips for automotive applications

September 18, 2019 by David Edwards

Artificial intelligence and neural networks are becoming a key factor in developing safer, smart and eco-friendly cars.

In order to support AI-driven solutions with its future automotive microcontrollers, Infineon Technologies has started a collaboration with Synopsys.

Next generation Aurix microcontrollers from Infineon will integrate a new high-performance AI accelerator called Parallel Processing Unit (PPU) that will employ Synopsys’ DesignWare ARC EV Processor IP. infineon AURIX LFBGA small

Infineon Technologies AG and Elektrobit Automotive GmbH are teaming up long term to work closely together on the issue of cybersecurity for vehicles.

The companies are offering a hardware-software solution that is said to boost the performance of on-board communication and satisfies current and future security requirements.

It is based on the second generation of the multicore microcontroller family AURIX™ (TC3xx) from Infineon and, tailored to it, Elektrobit’s zentur HSM solution.

Lightning fast machine sorts out the squares in 637 thousandths of a second

The Rubik’s Cube is one of the world’s most famous puzzles, and one of the best-selling products in history.

Tens of millions – possibly hundreds of millions – of people have tried to manipulate the cubic puzzle to manoeuvre the colours so they match on all six sides. And millions have succeeded.

But it would impossible for any human to do what a machine did earlier today at the electronica trade fair, where a machine called “Sub1 Reloaded” pulled off the feat with the help of microchips from Infineon in less than a second – 637 thousandths of a second to be exact.  [Read more…] about Infineon chip solves Rubik’s Cube in about one half of one second

Infineon signs deal with TTTech to speed up development in autonomous driving

March 7, 2016 by Abdul Montaqim

tttech

Infineon has reached an agreement with TTTech on the joint development of autonomous vehicle technologies.

Under the guidance of Audi, TTTech developed a central platform control unit, “zFAS”, integrating various functionalities of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

The ECU also enables comprehensive fusion of sensor data. Microcontrollers from Infineon Technologies safeguard that highest requirements towards computing performance and safety are met.  [Read more…] about Infineon signs deal with TTTech to speed up development in autonomous driving
