DMG MORI and Tulip partner to offer agile manufacturing solutions

November 27, 2019 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

DMG MORI and Tulip have agreed a partnership through which the two companies plan to offer “agile manufacturing solutions”.

US software provider Tulip is to help DMG MORI simplify its customers’ entry into digital production.

Using a drag-and-drop interface, manufacturing workers can easily create and integrate APPs into existing systems. [Read more…] about DMG MORI and Tulip partner to offer agile manufacturing solutions

B&R showcases technology for mass customisation

October 4, 2019 by Sam Francis

Industrial automation company B&R has been showcasing its technology for mass customisation, or “batch of one”.

The company exhibited its SuperTrak process at the metal industry event EMO, held recently in Germany.

B&R says the metal industry is not immune to the global trend away from bulk annual orders toward small-batch customer orders with short lead times. [Read more…] about B&R showcases technology for mass customisation

Toposens launches ultrasonic sensor for close-range perception

July 17, 2019 by David Edwards

Toposens has launched what it describes as its “current flag-ship product”, the TS3, a 3D ultrasonic sensor.

The company says the TS3 us suitable for a wide range of applications in the autonomous systems market that require a strong need for reliable object detection and situational awareness.

In comparison to common ultrasonic sensors, which usually measure the distance only to the closest reflecting surface, Toposens’ new 3D sensors achieve “a wide field of view of up to 160° and provide simultaneous 3D measurements for multiple objects within the scanning area”, says the company. B&R software better utilises the potential of robots

April 30, 2019 by Anna

B&R Automation has added new functions to its mapp Motion software package. It is now possible to represent the structure of a complex machine intuitively in the configuration.

The various subsystems of a machine can be linked together. The movements of robots can be easily synchronised with gantry systems or workpiece tables with no additional programming.

The “Frame hierarchy” function can be used to represent the actual structure of a machine. Coordinate systems can be positioned at key points, such as the tool mounting flange.

A new type of robotic ‘brain’ could transform modern factories

April 25, 2019 by David Edwards

By Richard van Hooijdonk

Industrial robots like the ones that assemble Tesla vehicles or Nokia’s 5G base stations are a sight to behold.

They’re critical for manufacturing automation and lead to improved product quality, shorter cycle times, and decreased production costs.

So, it’s no surprise that the global industrial robotics market is expected to reach a whopping $97.41 billion by 2026 as investments in this technology ramp up. [Read more…] about A new type of robotic ‘brain’ could transform modern factories
