Kollmorgen Automation partners with Spanish Association of Mobile Robotics

The Spanish Association of Mobile Robotics (ARME) and Kollmorgen Automation have entered into a strategic partnership to offer high quality integration solutions for AGVs and mobile robots, based on the NDC8 platform.

With this union, ARME aims to strengthen the position of AGVs and mobile robots at the Spanish market.

ShipHero implements inVia Robotics’ automation system to upgrade warehouse operations

inVia Robotics, a specialist provider of e-commerce fulfillment automation systems, has been selected by ShipHero, a shipping and logistics platform for more than 5,000 e-commerce brands and third-party logistic providers, to expand its fully autonomous mobile robot solution into two additional fulfillment centers.

After automating picking and replenishment activities in its Jacksonville, Florida location with inVia, ShipHero will now add the technology to its Allentown, Pennsylvania and Las Vegas, Nevada warehouses.

The two companies have already built a native integration between inVia’s warehouse execution system (WES) and ShipHero’s warehouse management system (WMS) software that will ensure rapid and seamless deployments in these additional facilities. Plus One Robotics’ parcel handling solutions surpass 500 million picks

Plus One Robotics, a provider of a parcel handling robotics platform claiming to performing over 1 million parcel picks each day in production, says its platform has reached over half a billion parcel picks globally. 

The company says the 500 million figure is “currently an industry leading metric”.

MassRobotics partners with AMD to advance adaptive computing in robotics

MassRobotics, an innovation hub and startup cluster focused on the needs of the robotics community, is partnering with chip giant AMD to introduce and deliver technologies to robotics startups.

Through the industrial suite of AMD tools, platforms and an accelerated app store designed for the robotics industry, robotics startups will be able to further develop innovative solutions around automation, mobility, AI and machine vision-related applications.

AMD, widely known for their FPGAs (field programmable gate arrays) and adaptive SoCs (system-on-chips), are bringing offerings, such as the Kria KR260 Robotics Starter Kit and Kria Robotic Stack (KRS), which are focused on bringing easy-to-integrate hardware acceleration of ROS 2 to MassRobotics resident startups. Robotics Plus unveils autonomous modular vehicle to ‘alleviate agriculture labour shortages’

Robotics Plus, a New Zealand-based agritech company, has launched an autonomous multi-use, modular vehicle platform for agriculture designed to carry out a variety of orchard and vineyard machine tasks – to “alleviate ongoing labor shortages and transform the industry”.

The multi-purpose unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) can be supervised in a fleet of vehicles by a single human operator. The vehicle uses a combination of vision systems and other technologies to sense the environment – to optimize tasks and allow intelligent and targeted application of inputs such as sprays.

Growers will be able to rotate multiple tools on the highly adaptable and configurable agriculture platform, depending on the day’s work – for jobs such as spraying, weed control, mulching, mowing and crop analysis. Vecna Robotics unveils ‘major software release’

Vecna Robotics, a specialist in material handling automation solutions, has unveiled what it describes as “a major software release and hardware upgrades” to its AFL-class autonomous forklift.

The new capabilities expand the company’s reach within warehouse and factory floors by optimizing material transport between other machinery and equipment, with specific focus on low-lift workflows.

The update supports numerous above-ground workflows including: inbound staging to AS/RS induction; delivering materials to ergonomic lift stands for work-in-process flows; and loading and extracting from robotic palletizers and stretch wrappers. Plymouth State University receives $1 million funding for new robotics lab

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is sending $1 million in federal funding to Plymouth State University (PSU) to aid in the construction of a new robotics laboratory to be located on the fourth floor of the Draper & Maynard Building at the Plymouth campus.

In fall 2021, PSU became the first New Hampshire institution to offer a Bachelor of Science in Robotics degree program.

PickNik Robotics wins contract with US Space Force

PickNik Robotics, a provider of robotics software and engineering services, has won a SpaceWERX contract to work on robotics for the US Space Force.

In addition, the company recently won a NASA Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I contract for continued work on supervised autonomy for space robotics, as well as a Colorado Advanced Industries Accelerator (AIA) grant for space robotics.
