How to understand that it’s time to change job

June 27, 2023 by David Edwards

Sometimes even the most favorite job can cause conflicting feelings in a person – from fatigue to the desire to write an application for dismissal. Often, with the right attitude to one’s duties and the possibility of communication with the manager, this can be avoided.

But is it worth it? Or maybe it’s not so much about the work, as it is about its specifics. For example, you work in an office, but deep down you have been thinking about looking for remote Vue developer jobs for a long time. Therefore, let’s try to figure out how to understand that it’s time to change jobs. [Read more…] about How to understand that it’s time to change job

Georgia Tech partners with Stilfold to advance ‘industrial origami’ engineering program

May 24, 2023 by David Edwards

Georgia Tech’s School of Civil and Environmental Engineering is partnering with Stockholm-based startup Stilfold to roll out a pioneering initiative that will teach students innovative new approaches to sustainable manufacturing, inspired by the Japanese art of origami.

Stilfold is a leading design and technology startup pioneering the use of curve folding and robotics to build things more sustainably. The company says its “groundbreaking technology”, dubbed “industrial origami”, involves the use of robots to fold flat sheet metal over curves to create strong and sustainable new structures.

The tech is currently being used to build a lightweight electric motorcycle called the Stilride 1; and the world’s first climate-neutral car (in partnership with Polestar). [Read more…] about Georgia Tech partners with Stilfold to advance ‘industrial origami’ engineering program

Historic 80,000 sq ft facility in Chicago Near West Side Opportunity Zone will expand to make mHUB the ‘largest independent manufacturing center in US’

Manufacturing and “hardtech” innovation center, mHUB, is investing $50 million in the acquisition and build-out of a historic manufacturing facility within Chicago’s Kinzie Industrial Corridor on the city’s Near West Side.

The building is located within a designated Opportunity Zone and planned manufacturing district on a 2-acre site that will increase mHUB’s prototyping and testing facilities and office and convening spaces to become the largest independent manufacturing innovation center in the country.

Launched in 2017, mHUB has supported over 500+ startups and 200 manufacturers from all over the world that have created 5,000+ jobs and generated over $2.6 billion of economic activity. [Read more…] about mHUB investing $50 million to build ‘largest independent manufacturing center in America’

DoE offering $30 million for new materials and manufacturing to lower cost of large wind turbines

February 15, 2023 by Mark Allinson

The US Department of Energy has announced a $30 million funding opportunity to advance the cost-effective domestic manufacturing of materials, including lightweight composites, that allow wind turbines to produce power more efficiently.

Because wind energy is the largest source of renewable power in the United States and one of the most affordable sources of energy today, it is a critical tool for reducing our reliance on fossil energy, and next-generation technologies and manufacturing improvements will help bring down costs even more.

The improved materials and manufacturing processes envisioned under this funding opportunity have the potential to reduce wind energy costs and expand the deployment of the nation’s wind energy portfolio in support of President Biden’s goals to reach 100 percent clean electricity by 2035 and a net-zero-emissions economy by 2050.
