Automation is Leaving the Factory Floor and Moving into the Back Office

June 26, 2026 by Sam Francis

For decades, automation had a definite home. It lived on the factory floor, in the warehouse, and along the production line, where robots and programmable systems handled physical, repetitive tasks with precision that no human could compete with. This story is well understood by anyone in the industry.

What is less discussed is where automation goes next. The same logic that transformed manufacturing, that repetitive rule-based work should be handled by machines, is now moving into a place few associate with robotics: the ordinary business processes that run a company. And a new generation of AI agents is driving the shift. [Read more…] about Automation is Leaving the Factory Floor and Moving into the Back Office

Robotic Process Automation in 2026: A Buyer’s Guide for Procurement Teams

June 25, 2026 by Sam Francis

A decade ago, RPA meant screen-scraping bots that clicked legacy desktop apps faster than a temp could. The category looks different now.

Attended and unattended bots still handle UI work inside an ERP, a CRM, or whatever billing tool the finance team won’t retire. API-first orchestration calls cloud services directly wherever an integration point exists.

The bigger change is document understanding. Hyperscalers call it intelligent document processing. It reads invoices, contracts, and government forms in two stages. Computer vision detects layout, tables, and field positions. A language model on top extracts the values and resolves the ambiguity. In practice, contract clauses and invoice fields land in the ERP without re-keying. [Read more…] about Robotic Process Automation in 2026: A Buyer’s Guide for Procurement Teams

How SMEs can use automation to their advantage

June 2, 2026 by Sam Francis

Running a small or medium-sized business in 2026 means juggling rising costs with customers who expect faster responses than ever.

If you’re still relying on manual processes to keep everything moving, you’re probably spending more time on admin than on work that actually grows your revenue.

With over 36 million small businesses in the US employing nearly half the private sector workforce, the pressure to work more efficiently has never been more real. [Read more…] about How SMEs can use automation to their advantage

How AI and Automation Are Reshaping Enterprise Customer Loyalty in 2026

May 21, 2026 by Sam Francis

AI and automation are changing how enterprises build and maintain customer loyalty in 2026.

Companies now use predictive analytics, agentic AI, and real-time personalization to retain customers, reduce churn, and increase lifetime value, moving well beyond points-based rewards programs.

In this guide, we’ll break down how these tools are reshaping loyalty across three areas: churn prevention, personalization at scale, and the shift toward invisible, emotionally driven loyalty experiences. [Read more…] about How AI and Automation Are Reshaping Enterprise Customer Loyalty in 2026

Full Stack Observability: The ROI Case Boards Need Before Approving Security Budgets

May 20, 2026 by David Edwards

Budget conversations inside enterprise security teams have changed. Technical merit alone rarely moves a board toward approval anymore.

CISOs and IT leaders are now expected to justify every investment in operational terms: reduced downtime, faster incident response, lower business disruption, and measurable efficiency gains.

That shift has pushed Full Stack Observability into a different category of discussion. It is no longer viewed as another monitoring upgrade sitting inside the IT budget. [Read more…] about Full Stack Observability: The ROI Case Boards Need Before Approving Security Budgets

Didero raises $30 million Series A to bring AI agents to global supply chains

March 24, 2026 by Sam Francis

Didero, a New York-based software company using AI agents to automate enterprise procurement, has announced a $30 million Series A financing round co-led by Chemistry and Headline, with participation from M12, Microsoft’s Venture Fund.

The new funding will support product development and go-to-market expansion as manufacturers and distributors deploy Didero to reduce manual work, improve visibility, and operate more resilient global supply chains.

Tim Spencer, co-founder and CEO of Didero, says: “Procurement teams are being asked to manage increasingly complex supply chains with tools that were never designed for the pace or scale of today’s trade. Defining the New Normal: How Technology Research is Shaping the Future of Workplace Automation

February 26, 2026 by David Edwards

Ever walked into an office lately and noticed how different things look compared to just a few years ago? The changes are pretty dramatic when you stop to think about it.

We’re not just talking about hybrid work schedules or fancier coffee machines. The whole foundation of how we work is shifting, and technology research is playing a huge role in figuring out what comes next. Brightpick enters automotive market through strategic partnership with NAPA

February 20, 2026 by David Edwards

Brightpick, a provider of AI-powered robotic automation for warehouses, has agreed a strategic partnership with NAPA, a major US retailer and distributor of automotive replacement parts, accessories, and service items, to deploy advanced automation technology across its distribution centers.

Through this partnership, Brightpick’s robotic solutions will aim to improve overall warehouse performance to support NAPA’s nationwide store network.

Brightpick and NAPA first collaborated in 2025 on a pilot project, which has been running successfully. NAPA then signed an agreement with Brightpick for an additional site in early 2026, with the potential for future installations at other locations. The first project under this agreement will include more than 100 Brightpick robots to support high-volume processing. Why successful automation depends on strong change-management leadership

December 19, 2025 by David Edwards

Automation rarely fails because the tools are weak. Sometimes, it stumbles because people are left behind. As companies roll out smarter software, robots, and data systems, the real test is not technical skill but leadership. It comes down to who explains the change, who listens when doubts surface, and who takes responsibility when fear shows up.

New automation tools now shape everything from scheduling to forecasting, touching jobs that once felt safely human. That change can feel unsettling. Will this make my work easier, or make me irrelevant? Without clear leadership, those questions turn into quiet resistance. Employees keep old habits alive, new systems go unused, and promised gains fade fast.

Strong change-management leadership reshapes the story. In simple terms, it’s how leaders guide people through new ways of working, not just how fast new systems are installed. They answer the questions employees are already asking, sometimes silently. Will my role be different? Will I still matter? What happens if I struggle with the new system? Addressing those concerns early prevents fear from filling the gaps. [Read more…] about Why successful automation depends on strong change-management leadership

How Automation is Revolutionizing Back-Office Operations in Enterprises

December 19, 2025 by David Edwards

For years, back-office work has quietly kept enterprises running. Processing invoices, managing documents, updating systems, reconciling numbers. It’s essential, but it’s rarely efficient. Much of it still relies on manual steps, duplicated effort, and workarounds that only exist because “that’s how it’s always been done.”

That’s changing fast.

Automation isn’t just about saving money or replacing clerical work. Enterprises use it to reduce risk, speed up operations, scale without adding headcount, and free teams to focus on work that requires human judgment. It’s already transforming finance, procurement, document handling, and daily admin tasks. [Read more…] about How Automation is Revolutionizing Back-Office Operations in Enterprises
