RPA with IoT: Paving the way for digital transformation

September 29, 2021 by Liv Leave a Comment

RPA, along with IoT, is the critical lever of modernization and process improvement. The combined technologies contribute to the digital transformation journeys of businesses.

This article dissects what RPA is, its use cases, and how it perfectly complements IoT technologies’ characteristics to help companies boost efficiency and drive higher profitability.

The term’ digital transformation’ has been creating a buzz in our world for a while now and it is primarily based on new digital technologies that allow businesses to improve their productivity, flexibility, and responsiveness in markets with global competition. The Robots Are Here to Stay: How Automation is Affecting Global Business

August 10, 2020 by Polly Leave a Comment

Robots are shaking up different aspects of the modern business world. Deloitte’s 3rd Annual Robotics Survey suggested that the implementation of robotic process automation (RPA) in organisations is in the rise.

Robotic Process Automation? What Is It?

Simply known simply as RPA, it is the use of robotics systems on computers or robots to support the processing of data, and thereby, making such data processing more effective.

RPA also comes with programs that prevent the need for human hands or humans to perform rule-based tasks that are mostly repetitive. Thus, RPA also leads to very time-efficient processes. [Read more…] about The Robots Are Here to Stay: How Automation is Affecting Global Business

Cognitive Solutions Leverage the Power of RPA

April 30, 2019 by David Edwards

One of the biggest trends right now is “leveraging” or “scaling” RPA’s reach by adding a cognitive element to the process.

Nadin Kraus from Teva Pharma, expert speaker at the 4th AI & RPA World Summit 2019, reveals why you should have an eye on this trend. Read the full report.

While RPA’s growth trajectory has been fairly steep – implementations jumping from 9% at the start of 2018 to 32% at the start of 2019 –  there are limitations to what it can do on its own and organizations are running into hurdles in trying to scale.

Robotic Process Automation: How ‘software robots’ are finding their niche

November 26, 2018 by Anna

A simple introduction to a complex subject

At Robotics and Automation News, we like real robots, ones that you can see and touch, that are preferably made of metal. However, we might have been remiss in not talking about another kind, the “software robot” that sits inside your computer, watches what you are doing, and learns how to do it for you.

Software developers automate tasks by analysing them in detail, and writing programmes that carry out the task step by step, and then writing something called an Application Programming Interface (API) to link the task into an organisation’s computer system.

The drawbacks here are the usual – some tasks don’t justify the cost of designing a special software system, yet nonetheless many hours of laborious manual inputting needs doing. It is here that Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and software robots are coming into their own.  [Read more…] about Robotic Process Automation: How ‘software robots’ are finding their niche

The growth of robotic process automation in life sciences and pharma

November 13, 2018 by Sam Francis

In partnership with Intelligent Automation in Life Science

Robotic process automation, sometimes called “intelligent automation”, simply put, refers to the use of software to perform routine or repetitive tasks.

An overly simple example might be setting up an auto-response on your email account for when you’re not around to answer a sender’s email yourself.

But that really is a gross over-simplification compared to what RPA can do. In theory, any task currently completed by a human could be done with RPA.  [Read more…] about The growth of robotic process automation in life sciences and pharma

Industry automation myths debunked

June 26, 2018 by David Edwards

People are generally allergic to change, even if it can help them. We are used to living our lives a certain way and discourage change, often neglecting its benefits.

However, change is constant and you cannot stop it, especially when it comes to technology.

Consider escalators. They replaced stairs, which helps people climb quicker and without much effort, but when the technology came out, it was hated due to the myths and a lack of understanding about how escalators worked.  [Read more…] about Industry automation myths debunked

The debate continues on whether or not the working class will become obsolete as society becomes more automated.

Robots are slowly replacing human workers, and this is very evident in the world of finance where robots are transforming the future.

Cloud computing, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), and analytics are now changing finance operations.  [Read more…] about The future role of robotics in finance

Robotic process automation can drive billion-dollar savings in healthcare, says Alsbridge

April 25, 2016 by Abdul Montaqim

Advisory company Alsbridge predicted that deploying smart robots to improve the efficiency of claims processing could generate billion-dollar savings for the healthcare industry.

“Robotic process automation (RPA) offers a cost-effective strategy to significantly increase the rate of healthcare claims automation and drive cost savings,” said Rod Dunlap, a director in Alsbridge’s RPA practice.

“Insurers struggling to update aging, inflexible legacy systems or grappling with the price tag of new technology platforms now have an alternative option.”  [Read more…] about Robotic process automation can drive billion-dollar savings in healthcare, says Alsbridge

The growing power of robots in today’s economy and society

As robots are fast becoming our co-workers, we take a look at when and where this alliance began. By James Hall, CEO of Genfour

The first autonomous robots joined the workforce at a General Motors plant in 1961, where they performed tasks like welding car bodies together.

In the decades that followed, robots performed an increasing share of industrial factory work, but always alone – their inventors, George Deyol and Joseph Engelberger, deemed them too dangerous to work around people.  [Read more…] about The growing power of robots in today’s economy and society
