Human-Robot Collaboration: How Modern Workplaces Can Be Designed for Safety, Productivity, and Employee Wellbeing

June 1, 2026 by Sam Francis

Physical barriers are disappearing from the modern production floor, with the $85 billion industrial robotics market creating a shared environment where people and machinery work side by side.

Successfully managing this transition requires a deep understanding of spatial geometry, workforce psychology, and functional safety standards.

There are millions of industrial robots deployed worldwide, and each unit requires a workspace specifically engineered to balance operational speed with human safety. Perspective from Harting: The industrial reality check – why factory winners execute, not just innovate

May 22, 2026 by Sam Francis

Rodriques Johnpeter, global industry segment manager, Harting

Manufacturers are operating in a moment where disruption is the norm, not the exception. Supply chain volatility, inflationary pressure and labor constraints all collide with a parallel push to embed automation and AI into plants that were never designed for today’s technologies.

Most facilities – well over two-thirds globally – are still brownfield sites, built around legacy machines, heterogeneous controls and fragile integrations that have been patched together over decades.

These environments leave almost no room for extended downtime or wholesale rip-and-replace projects, which is where many digital transformation strategies quietly break down. [Read more…] about Perspective from Harting: The industrial reality check – why factory winners execute, not just innovate

Warehouse Automation Reset: Turning Storage Space into Strategic Muscle

April 28, 2026 by David Edwards

Warehousing stepped out of the shadows the moment delivery speed eclipsed advertising spend. A single late parcel now sparks louder outrage than a faulty slogan, whereas a flawlessly timed same-day drop locks in lifelong loyalty.

Drawing sprint rituals from full-cycle unity game development services, the smartest fulfilment hubs upgrade code, robots, and workflows in tight weekly loops instead of lumbering annual projects. That cadence delivers faster order flow, slimmer carbon ledgers, and genuine resilience when the next supply-chain tremor hits. Honeywell to sell warehouse automation business Intelligrated and Transnorm as portfolio overhaul continues

April 23, 2026 by David Edwards

Honeywell has agreed to sell its Warehouse and Workflow Solutions (WWS) business – which operates under the Intelligrated and Transnorm brands – to American Industrial Partners in an all-cash transaction, as part of a wider restructuring of its automation portfolio.

The financial terms of the sale were not disclosed.

The deal, expected to close in the second half of 2026, follows closely on the company’s recent agreement to divest its Productivity Solutions and Services (PSS) division to Brady Corporation for $1.4 billion.

Together, the two transactions mark a decisive step in Honeywell’s multi-year effort to simplify its business and sharpen its focus on core automation technologies. [Read more…] about Honeywell to sell warehouse automation business Intelligrated and Transnorm as portfolio overhaul continues

Most manufacturers adopting automation, but few see real results, report finds

April 9, 2026 by Sam Francis

A new report from Eclipse Automation suggests that while factory automation is now widespread across North America, only a small proportion of manufacturers are achieving meaningful outcomes from their investments.

The study, based on a survey of more than 600 executives across the automotive, medical device, and consumer-industrial sectors, found that although up to 70 percent of US manufacturers and 60 percent of Canadian firms report using some form of automation, levels of maturity and performance vary significantly.

The findings point to a growing divide between companies that are successfully translating automation into measurable returns and those that are struggling to move beyond early-stage deployments. [Read more…] about Most manufacturers adopting automation, but few see real results, report finds

Defining the New Normal: How Technology Research is Shaping the Future of Workplace Automation

February 26, 2026 by David Edwards

Ever walked into an office lately and noticed how different things look compared to just a few years ago? The changes are pretty dramatic when you stop to think about it.

We’re not just talking about hybrid work schedules or fancier coffee machines. The whole foundation of how we work is shifting, and technology research is playing a huge role in figuring out what comes next. Why successful automation depends on strong change-management leadership

December 19, 2025 by David Edwards

Automation rarely fails because the tools are weak. Sometimes, it stumbles because people are left behind. As companies roll out smarter software, robots, and data systems, the real test is not technical skill but leadership. It comes down to who explains the change, who listens when doubts surface, and who takes responsibility when fear shows up.

New automation tools now shape everything from scheduling to forecasting, touching jobs that once felt safely human. That change can feel unsettling. Will this make my work easier, or make me irrelevant? Without clear leadership, those questions turn into quiet resistance. Employees keep old habits alive, new systems go unused, and promised gains fade fast.

Strong change-management leadership reshapes the story. In simple terms, it’s how leaders guide people through new ways of working, not just how fast new systems are installed. They answer the questions employees are already asking, sometimes silently. Will my role be different? Will I still matter? What happens if I struggle with the new system? Addressing those concerns early prevents fear from filling the gaps. [Read more…] about Why successful automation depends on strong change-management leadership
