Amazon acquires delivery robotics startup Rivr to target ‘last-meter’ logistics

March 23, 2026 by Sam Francis

Amazon has reportedly acquired Swiss robotics startup Rivr Technologies, a company developing autonomous robots designed to deliver packages from vans to customers’ doorsteps.

The e-commerce giant has not issued a formal press release about the deal. However, it confirmed the acquisition in communications to delivery partners, saying it had “recently acquired Rivr”, according to reports by Euronews and other media outlets. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Rivr, an ETH Zurich spinout, develops quadruped delivery robots capable of navigating real-world environments, including steps, curbs, and uneven terrain. The machines are designed to accompany human drivers and handle the final stage of delivery – often considered one of the most time-consuming and labor-intensive parts of logistics operations. Potential use cases for humanoid robots: Disaster response, caregiving and beyond

March 13, 2026 by Sam Francis

Humanoid robots have moved rapidly from laboratory demonstrations to early commercial trials. A growing number of technology companies are developing machines designed to operate in human environments – walking through buildings, handling tools, and performing tasks traditionally carried out by people.

Yet despite the excitement surrounding the technology, one question remains unresolved: what are humanoid robots actually for?

The current generation of machines – developed by companies including Figure AI, Agility Robotics, Apptronik, 1X Technologies, and several Chinese robotics firms – are frequently described as “general-purpose robots”. Dexterity says its new world model delivers ‘major leap forward’ for physical AI-powered truck loading

March 6, 2026 by David Edwards

Dexterity, a developer of physical AI powered industrial robotics, has announced a “major leap forward” in its Physical AI stack, anchored by Foresight, a state-of-the-art world model and a 4D box packing agent.

These advancements help solve some of the most physically demanding and hardest-to-staff tasks, such as truck loading. Alongside the announcement, Dexterity is also launching the Foresight API Challenge with up to $50,000 in prizes for student teams.

Foresight is Dexterity’s physics-consistent world model, a real-time, transactable representation of the physical environment that enables robots to perceive, reason, and act. Foresight represents a new class of world model, built not for observation, but for physical manipulation at the production scale.
