Switzerland’s largest trade fair celebrates its 20th anniversary with a promising edition

May 22, 2022 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

In September 2021, EPHJ was the first show to reopen in Switzerland after the health crisis. A daring risk welcomed by the high-precision players who attended and by the visitors whose quality and qualification were recognised by 98 percent of the exhibitors according to the satisfaction survey conducted at the end of this 2021 edition.

Only 8 months after the last edition, the 20th edition of the EPHJ is once again promising. The number of exhibiting companies has risen by 26 percent compared to September 2021 to reach 700 exhibitors to date.

The easing of international travel is confirmed with 15 countries represented among the exhibitors, including the United States, and a trend towards the first returns of foreign visitors is expected. Microtechnology exhibition EPHJ successfully holds 19th edition

October 25, 2021 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

Switzerland’s largest international trade show dedicated to high-precision technologies, EPHJ – which showcases microtechnology innovations in sectors such as watchmaking and medicine – has successfully held its 19th edition.

The organisers say this year’s event has shown “positive results”.

They add that, in a delicate event context in a period of health crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the satisfaction and attendance indicators at the end of the EPHJ trade show are “encouraging”. [Read more…] about Microtechnology exhibition EPHJ successfully holds 19th edition

EPHJ trade show returns to bring together industrial high precision in Geneva

September 7, 2021 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

After a somewhat “sterile” year in 2020 due to the Covid-related restrictions, the EPHJ Trade Show has done everything to ensure that this 2021 edition, initially postponed for some months, can now be held in the best possible conditions, given the wider public-health backdrop.

This year, the Trade Show will host more than 500 exhibitors at Palexpo. Large numbers of Swiss and international visitors, mainly from neighbouring countries, have already signed up. From small SMEs to sizeable multinationals, no one wants to miss this “return to normal”.

“The convivial and friendly spirit at the EPHJ Trade Show is one of the main factors behind its success”, explains Alexandre Catton, Director of the Trade Show. “Everyone really wants to meet up, reconnect with each other, smile at one other without a screen, have a drink with their clients and do some face to face business.” [Read more…] about EPHJ trade show returns to bring together industrial high precision in Geneva

High-precision watchmaking technology developer H2i wins grand prize in EPHJ awards

November 23, 2020 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

High-precision watchmaking technology company H2i has won the grand prize in the EPHJ industry awards.

EPHJ is held every year in Geneva, Switzerland, and showcases companies in the microtechnology sector, including watchmaking, jewellery-making and medtech.

Although the 2020 edition of the EPHJ Trade Show was cancelled due to the pandemic, the traditional Grand Prix des Exposants was able to go ahead as normal as a result of the many innovations received by the Jury for initial selection. Swiss micro-technology trade show EPHJ to go ahead despite coronavirus

June 18, 2020 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

The EPHJ Trade Show – for the watchmaking, jewellery, and micro- and medical technologies sectors – says it is “stepping up to the plate” for the relaunch of the economy, confirming that its 2020 edition will take place from 15 to 18 September this year.

Having been obliged to postpone its 2020 edition to September due to Covid-19, the largest annual trade fair in Switzerland will in fact take place this year in Geneva to contribute to the recovery of all the high-precision sectors.

Alexandre Catton, director of EPHJ, says: “We have held widespread discussions over the past few weeks with numerous exhibitors to obtain as accurate picture as possible of the situation on the ground. [Read more…] about Swiss micro-technology trade show EPHJ to go ahead despite coronavirus

Zymergen installs ‘dozens’ of miniature industrial robots from Mecademic

February 23, 2020 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

Zymergen, a science and materials innovation company based in California, has integrated “dozens” of Meca500 robots to automate experiments in their life sciences facility. (See video below.)

The Meca500 is a miniature industrial robot manufactured by startup company Mecademic. It has found a great number of applications in labs and industries such as watchmaking and medical technology.

Some predict that Mecademic has huge potential with its robot, especially in wtachmaking and medtech, especially as there is currently no other robot like it. [Read more…] about Zymergen installs ‘dozens’ of miniature industrial robots from Mecademic

Organisers of watchmaking event EPHJ report increased visitors and ‘excellent feedback’

July 12, 2019 by David Edwards

Against the backdrop of a thriving watchmaking industry, the 18th EPHJ Trade Show ended recently with “really good news” on visitor numbers, which were slightly up, and positive feedback from the 820 exhibitor companies.

After four busy days, the 820 exhibitors and the organisers left the EPHJ Trade Show with a smile on their faces.

Alexandre Catton, director of EPHJ, says: “This 18th show was a continuation of previous versions with improvements in many areas, especially the number of visitors, which was up more than 4 per cent, and the satisfaction of the exhibitors.” [Read more…] about Organisers of watchmaking event EPHJ report increased visitors and ‘excellent feedback’

EPHJ: Big industry seen at the small scale

June 19, 2019 by Abdul Montaqim

EPHJ-EPMT-SMT is the name of an annual trade show built around what is referred to as “microtechnology” because it’s all about the small scale – tiny but essential components.

Currently in its second day, the conference is held in Geneva, Switzerland, and the vast majority of the 500 or so exhibitors – about 80 per cent – are from the watchmaking sector.

The Swiss watchmaking industry is still massive, despite historical challenges from Japanese watchmakers in the 1960s and ’70s, and lately, disruptive innovations by makers of smart watches, such as Apple. [Read more…] about EPHJ: Big industry seen at the small scale

EPHJ: Microtechnology event keeps it simple while using a complicated name

June 18, 2019 by Abdul Montaqim

It might have an inexplicably complex name, but the EPHJ-EPMT-SMT event, which just got under way today in Geneva, is a trade show about what is, arguably, one of the simplest forms of technology.

By “simplest”, I mean it’s about mechanical technology – gears, springs, and so on – almost exclusively, with computer technology playing a very small part, if at all. And it’s all about small-scale.

Certainly the watchmaking aspect of the show is almost entirely about mechanical timepieces. The jewellery-making strand also features mechanised equipment. And the medical technology side, while requiring computing in some areas, is also mostly about mechanical equipment. The next edition of the exhibition – its full title being EPHJ-EPMT-SMT – will take place in Geneva, Switzerland between 18 and 21 June this year. [Read more…] about Swiss high-precision micro-technologies event EPHJ prepares to welcome more visitors
