Sentient showcases its ‘ViDAR’ vision systems at White House event with President Biden and Australian PM

Sentient Vision Systems’ newly appointed CEO, Mark Palmer, was invited to attend a reception in Washington to mark Australia Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s first official visit to Washington, hosted by President Joe Biden.

In a press release, Sentient says the Australia-US relationship marks “more than 100 years in partnership” and presents an important opportunity for discussion about “Clean, Green & Critical” technologies that contribute to the security of Indo-Pacific.

The reception – a key part of the three-day official Visit by PM Albanese that started on October 23rd – was also attended by senior US Department of Defense representatives and Whitehouse staff. Associated Food Stores selects Symbotic to implement warehouse automation system

Associated Food Stores (AFS), a provider of groceries and other goods and services to independent retailers in nine Intermountain states, and Symbotic, a developer of AI-enabled robotics technology for the supply chain, have entered into a commercial agreement to implement Symbotic’s robotic warehouse automation technology in AFS’ Utah distribution center.

Symbotic says its end-to-end automation system, with robotic case pick capabilities, will allow AFS’ distribution center to “improve a variety of retail-facing experiences”, including overall supply, expanded selection and delivery of products to stores.

David Rice, AFS’ president and CEO, says: “We appreciate the partnership with Symbotic which enables us to cast an exciting vision for future growth and long-term relevance with the shoppers and retailers we serve. Doosan Industrial Vehicle partners with Kollmorgen for automation

Doosan Industrial Vehicle (DIV), a global South Korean forklift manufacturer, is partnering with German industrial automaton specialist Kollmorgen to secure its “leading position” in the material handling industry.

Intel to invest $20 billion in building two new chip factories in Ohio

Intel has announced plans for an initial investment of more than $20 billion in the construction of two new leading-edge chip factories in Licking County, Ohio.

The investment will help boost production to meet the surging demand for advanced semiconductors, powering a new generation of innovative products from Intel and serving the needs of foundry customers as part of Intel’s IDM 2.0 strategy.

As the largest single private-sector investment in Ohio history, the initial phase of the project is expected to create 3,000 Intel jobs, 7,000 construction jobs over the course of the build, and support tens of thousands of additional local long-term jobs across a broad ecosystem of suppliers and partners. Rotary partners with TEXA to offer new ADAS solutions

Rotary, part of Vehicle Service Group (VSG) and Dover, has agreed a partnership with TEXA, a company involved in the design, development and production of diagnostic tools for the vehicle repair industry.

The companies say the partnership will enable Rotary to expand its automotive service offerings.

Sarcos Robotics and Changi Airport test outdoor robotic baggage handling system

Sarcos Technology and Robotics, a manufacturer of advanced robotic systems, and Changi Airport has completed a demonstration of a jointly developed outdoor-based autonomous baggage loading system prototype.

In collaboration with CAG, Sarcos is developing an outdoor-based baggage loading system to automate the loading and unloading of loose passenger bags from narrow-bodied aircraft.

The inaugural field demonstrations were conducted during September 2022 at Singapore Changi Airport and validated the opportunity for robotics to reduce the risk of on-the-job injuries from baggage handling and augment the ground handling labor force. Kollmorgen Automation partners with Spanish Association of Mobile Robotics

The Spanish Association of Mobile Robotics (ARME) and Kollmorgen Automation have entered into a strategic partnership to offer high quality integration solutions for AGVs and mobile robots, based on the NDC8 platform.

With this union, ARME aims to strengthen the position of AGVs and mobile robots at the Spanish market.

Hyundai partners with Rolls-Royce to develop electric and hydrogen engine for new types of aircraft

Rolls-Royce and Hyundai Motor Group are to collaborate on bringing all-electric propulsion and hydrogen fuel cell technology to the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) market, which includes electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

The partnership will leverage Rolls-Royce’s aviation and certification capabilities and Hyundai Motor Group’s hydrogen fuel cell technologies and industrialisation capability.

Both companies share a vision of “leading the way” in the AAM market delivering battery-electric and fuel cell electric solutions to the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) and Regional Air Mobility (RAM) markets and advancing sustainable aviation. AGCO’s Massey Ferguson plant produces one-millionth tractor

AGCO, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of agricultural machinery, is celebrating the production of the one-millionth tractor at its Massey Ferguson Beauvais plant.

The company says this “significant milestone” coincides with the company’s 175th anniversary. Massey Ferguson has been manufacturing tractors in Beauvais, France since November 20, 1960.

Darren Parker, vice president of Massey Ferguson, North America, says: “2022 is a year of milestone celebrations for Massey Ferguson.
