RGo Robotics exits stealth mode with $20 million in funding and ‘major customer wins’

RGo Robotics, a pioneer in artificial perception technology that enables mobile robots to understand complex surroundings and operate autonomously, has exited stealth mode with $20 million in funding.

The investment round, led by MoreTech Ventures, will allow RGo Robotics to continue rapid expansion of both its R&D and commercial teams to bring its Perception Engine to market.

RGo Robotics develops disruptive AI-powered technology for autonomous mobile robots, which allows them to achieve 3D, human-level perception. Its Perception Engine gives mobile robots the ability to understand complex surroundings and operate autonomously like humans. Baker-Polito administration awards $4.4 million grant for new Boston University robotics facility

The Baker-Polito Administration has announced a $4.4 million grant to Boston University for a new research and development center called the Robotics and Autonomous Systems Teaching and Innovation Center (RASTIC).

The project will drive the development of new innovations with private sector partners in Massachusetts and increase student research opportunities in the robotics space.

RASTIC will emphasize real-world prototyping projects to integrate new materials, functionality, and artificial intelligence into robotic devices, delivering tools that will allow students to design and launch their own R&D projects. Dexai Robotics partners with Mediterranean restaurant Bonapita

Dexai Robotics, a provider of intelligent robotics solutions for commercial kitchens, has installed its automated food preparation robot, Alfred, at Boston Mediterranean restaurant, Bonapita.

The robot will be preparing salads and bowls at Bonapita’s West Roxbury location, at 75 Spring Street, West Roxbury, Massachusetts.

NuPort Robotics to take its autonomous trucks and buses to India

NuPort Robotics, a Canadian autonomous trucking company, says it plans to set up operations in India with a mission to improve safety on Indian roads.

NuPort’s technology provides transportation solutions for heavy-duty commercial vehicles, such as buses and trucks, by enabling next-generation automated vehicles to be more fuel-efficient and safer to operate with enhanced driver experience.

NuPort is targeting the deployment of Level 2 autonomy which includes advanced driver assistance systems, data analysis and driver suggestions – all of which cumulatively lead to safer and more efficient vehicle performance. Jack in the Box to pilot Miso’s robots in its burger joints

Miso Robotics has agreed a partnership with Jack in the Box to begin a piloted test that will install its Flippy 2 and Sippy core product lines in one of the national restaurant chain’s standalone locations, with possible plans for further integration in the months ahead.

Built on the Miso Platform, both products leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision and data analytics to maximize efficiency in the commercial kitchen.

Verizon Robotics to showcase its aerial and ground robotics expertise at AUVSI

Verizon Robotics will be front and center at this year’s AUVSI XPONENTIAL, showcasing its leadership in air and ground robotics.

Inside the booth (number 2331), Verizon Robotics will be hosting various demonstrations, expert speakers and meetings with robotics and device manufacturers, as well as innovative enterprises looking to integrate air or ground robotics into their operations.

The robotics industry is thriving, with more organisations beginning to recognise the commercial and operational impact robots can have on their business.

In the retail sector, for example, Best Buy has introduced Chloe, a robot that operates like a vending machine – only instead of dispensing sweets, she distributes phone chargers and plug adapters.

Nvidia invests $10 million in delivery robot startup Serve Robotics

Nvidia and Serve Robotics have established a strategic technology collaboration to further the development of autonomous robotic transportation, which includes a $10 million equity investment in the company.

Serve Robotics, which specializes in robotic delivery services and sidewalk delivery systems, says its strategic technology collaboration with Nvidia will further efforts in developing the future of autonomous robotic transportation.
