How Automotive Robotics is Transforming the Auto Industry

January 23, 2024 by David Edwards

Our century is seeing a new change in industrialization where robotics have become the new norm in production and manufacturing. The automotive sector is one of the main industries that has experienced a lot of transformation.

From conducting auto auctions online to make it easier to buy cars from the comfort of your home to robotics that are widely used for painting, welding, and assembly.

What is most loved about automated technology is the fact that they are precise and move relatively fast and repetitively; all this translates to much faster production times and high-quality products. [Read more…] about How Automotive Robotics is Transforming the Auto Industry

Kodiak unveils industry-first semi-truck designed for scaled driverless operation

January 19, 2024 by David Edwards

Kodiak Robotics, a self-driving trucking company, has introduced what it says is “the world’s first driverless-ready semi-truck designed for scaled deployment”.

It is equipped with all the necessary redundant safety-critical hardware, including braking, steering and sensors, as well as the software required for driverless operations at scale.

Kodiak’s sixth-generation truck further enhances the overall reliability of the technology by building on Kodiak’s five years of real-world testing that includes 5,000 loads carried over more than 2.5 million miles. Origami-inspired robotic plants grow with their environment

January 17, 2024 by David Edwards

How do you deploy an environmental sensor to collect climate change readings over a prolonged period on an uninhabited island without failing? How do you power a seismic detector to operate for months in an underwater cave?

In environments that are difficult to reach because of the hazards or hardships for humans, a device behaving like a native plant could be the answer.

This is the approach taken by Suyi Li, associate professor in mechanical engineering at Virginia Tech, and Clemson professor and collaborator Ian Walker. Their work is being advanced thanks to a four-year, $840,000 grant from the National Science Foundation. [Read more…] about Origami-inspired robotic plants grow with their environment

The digital crystal ball: Predicting the next move forward for sales intelligence

January 17, 2024 by David Edwards

In a letter to French physicist Jean-Baptiste Le Roy, in 1789, Benjamin Franklin wrote (of the new American states): “Our new Constitution is now established and has an appearance that promises permanency; but in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.”

But in a modern context, it would be safe to paraphrase Franklin and update his assertion to “nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and the advancement of artificial intelligence”.

AI allows us such a panoptic view of modern Big Data business analytics, which is often referred to as “business intelligence”, that such BI can now be further quantified into subdivisions. [Read more…] about The digital crystal ball: Predicting the next move forward for sales intelligence

Dexterity introduces robotic print and apply palletizer

January 7, 2024 by Mark Allinson

Dexterity, a provider of AI systems for warehouse robots, has launched its Robotic Print and Apply Palletizer.

Targeting operations in third-party logistics (3PL), retail, and consumer packaged goods (CPG) that require case-level labeling, Dexterity’s Robotic Print and Apply Palletizer provides a one-robot workflow to ensure Amazon Routing, SSCC, or SKU barcodes are applied to each case in a pallet before shipment.

With the adoption of new Fulfillment Network Stock Keeping Unit (FNSKU) and other labeling requirements in the past year, shippers have needed to add another intensively manual process to their workflows. [Read more…] about Dexterity introduces robotic print and apply palletizer
