February 10, 2022 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

Coco, the LA-based remotely piloted delivery service, has officially hit the streets of Austin, Texas. As one of the nation’s most inventive and diverse food cities, Austin is a clear match for Coco’s more cost-effective, reliable, and traffic-free delivery service.

Coco has no plans of slowing its expansion, targeting Dallas, Houston and Miami in the next few months. This rapid growth is supported by Coco’s recent Series A funding round of $56 million.

In 2021, Coco transformed the food and beverage delivery landscape of Los Angeles, operating across all major LA neighborhoods and establishing themselves as the industry leader in the delivery space across reliability, speed-to-customer, sustainability, and cost effectiveness. Volkswagen expands production of battery systems

April 21, 2021 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

The Volkswagen Group Components plant in Braunschweig is significantly expanding its production of battery systems for the latest electric vehicle generation. Following the first expansion stage with a maximum capacity of 250,000 battery systems, the second expansion stage has started up with the same capacity.

This means that once the site is fully ramped up it will now be able to fit up to 500,000 batteries a year for models based on the modular electric drive matrix (MEB) – in this case for the fully electric Volkswagen ID.31 and ID.42, as well as the Škoda Enyaq iV3, which should soon be quietly and powerfully cruising the streets of Europe with a battery heart from Braunschweig.

In addition to that, up to 100,000 battery systems for the beloved models e-up!4, SEAT Mii electric5, Škoda Citigoe iV6 and as well as for hybrid vehicles such as the Volkswagen Golf GTE7. [Read more…] about Volkswagen expands production of battery systems

ABB launches new range of ‘next generation’ collaborative robots

February 24, 2021 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

ABB is expanding its collaborative robot portfolio with the new GoFa and SWIFTI cobot families, offering higher payloads and speeds, to complement YuMi and Single Arm YuMi in ABB’s cobot line-up.

These stronger, faster and more capable cobots will accelerate the company’s expansion in high-growth segments including electronics, healthcare, consumer goods, logistics and food and beverage, amongst others, meeting the growing demand for automation across multiple industries.

GoFa and SWIFTI are intuitively designed so customers need not rely on in-house programming specialists. This will unlock industries that have low levels of automation, with customers able to operate their cobot within minutes of installation, straight out of the box, with no specialized training.
