Singapore start-up Cognicept Systems has merged with Kabam Robotics, a division under precision engineering solutions provider, PATEC Group.

Nonwoven materials event INDEX opens after 18-month wait

INDEX20 opened its doors this week, after an 18-month wait, delighted to welcome the nonwoven industry back to Geneva with open arms. The exhibition floor was bustling with activity and anticipation at the prospect of new business.  

Over 500 exhibitors from 44 countries were present at the event, premiering their latest innovations. Organisers say the resounding message from the event was one of “a positive outcome and an inspiring vision” of the industry’s future across the spectrum of applications sectors.

The industry continued to evolve dramatically during the pandemic, and expectations were high as players from across the industry worldwide came together for the first time since 2017. Exhibitors said their expectations were exceeded, citing the high quality of the visitors present, converging on INDEX to conclude new business projects. Kuka forms ‘strategic partnership’ with Schüco

Industrial robotics and automation company Kuka has signed what it describes as a “strategic partnership” with Schüco.

The goal of the exclusive cooperation is the joint development and implementation of automation solutions for tomorrow’s production of windows, doors, and façades.

Robotic toymaker Anki to close down

Anki, a startup company which made robotic toy cars and trucks, is planning to close its doors, according to a report on the Recode website.

The company had raised more than $200 million in funding for the venture, and generated $100 million in revenue in 2017, but is now making all of its 200 employees redundant.

In a statement to Recode, the company says that it had been left “without significant funding” which meant it could not finance its hardware and software development plans going forward.
