Covariant, a developer of artificial intelligence for robotics, has raised $40 million in Series B funding, bringing its total funding to $67 million.
The round was led by Index Ventures, along with AI-focused Radical Ventures and participation from existing investor Amplify Partners and others.

Kindred has unveiled a new robotic solution for e-commerce fulfillment.
The company debuted the Kindred Sort 3.7 piece-picking robot at the recent Modex Show.
The enhanced Sort 3.7 system features eight additional cubbies, for a total of 27, translating into a 42 percent increase in the number of items it can sort at e-commerce fulfillment centers and warehouses, says Kindred. Xpeng Motors, a Chinese electric vehicle and technology company, says its P7 smart electric sports sedan officially rolls out in China on April 27.
The Xpeng P7 features the Nvidia Drive AGX Xavier platform for its XPilot3.0.

Following the outbreak of COVID-19, the Guangzhou Gosuncn Robot, a leading provider of smart city internet of things products and services, upgraded its 5G-powered police patrol robot with new capabilities to assist first-line police officers in conducting disease prevention inspections.
Because the manual measurement of body temperature exposes public safety personnel to potential health risks, these robots are equipped with 5 high-resolution cameras and infrared thermometers capable of scanning the temperature of 10 people simultaneously within a radius of 5 meters.
