Automatica event right back on track, say organisers

Organisers of Automatica, one of the world’s largest industrial robotics and automation trade shows, say the event is “right back on track” after a terrible pandemic which virtually destroyed the entire events sector.

In a press release, Automatica organisers say: “The indicators for automatica 2022, which will be held at the Munich exhibition grounds from June 21 to 24, are very positive. All industry leaders have already applied half a year before the event.”

Samsung caught planning robot invasion of America

Samsung, arguably the world’s largest mobile phone company and generally an all-round hi-tech behemoth, appears to be preparing to launch a massive invasion of America with robots.

The South Korean company has been reported to have filed papers and applications or whatever it is that you do at the World Intellectual Property Organization to trademark or patent a new brand called “Samsung Bot”, according to the Korea Herald.

Cogniteam’s Nimbus supports cloud-enabled robot management powered by Nvidia Jetson

Cogniteam is supporting the Nvidia Jetson edge AI platform into its cloud-based robotics development and deployment platform, allowing cloud-enabled deployments to use Nvidia technology for the first time.

More customers are moving over to Nvidia’s GPU-accelerated technologies that can be developed and deployed through the cloud.

Exotec raises $335 million in Series D funding for its warehouse robots

Exotec, a warehouse robotics startup, has raised $335 million in Series D funding, and is now valued at $2 billion.

The Growth Equity business within Goldman Sachs Asset Management led the round with follow-on investments from 83North and Dell Technologies Capital.

Some useful tips on how to use a tubing bender

Tubing benders are quite simple, and also a rather convenient tool that can provide consistent and accurate bends on a wide range of tubes, including steel tubes, copper tubes, and aluminum-based tubes.

There are many automated tube benders that can be electrically or hydraulically powered, as well. However, these machines are often bulky and may not be suitable for use in areas that do not have the appropriate power connections.

LG launches CLOi service robot after gaining UL certification

LG Business Solutions is launching the LG CLOi ServeBot in the US market in early 2022.

The company says the Model LDLIM21 is “the world’s first commercial service robot earning UL 3300 certification” for safe operation in complex commercial environments such as restaurants, retail stores and hotels.

For the first time, US workers will be able to safely use LG’s robot assistants, which cab navigate busy environments while carrying up to 66 pounds of food or goods, assisting with employee workloads, enabling better customer service and increasing operational efficiency. Brain Corp launches mobile app to manage autonomous robot fleets

Brain Corp, a developer of software for mobile cleaning robots, has launched BrainOS Mobile, a mobile application connecting operators and managers directly with their BrainOS-powered robotic fleets and providing real-time visibility on machine locations, status and performance.

Josh Baylin, vice president of product and marketing at Brain Corp, says: “Our BrainOS Mobile app represents an exciting new step in our company’s goal to make working with advanced robotics incredibly simple and to provide critical insights to our customers.”

Intel Mobileye and Geely Zeekr to build autonomous car for consumer market

Mobileye, an Intel subsidiary which develops advanced driver assistance systems, and Zeekr, the premium electric car brand owned by China’s largest automaker Geely, are to develop a new all-electric consumer vehicle with Level 4 capabilities.

The plan represents an expansion of their existing strategic technology partnership.

The planned autonomous vehicle will be powered by six EyeQ 5 system-on-chips to process Mobileye True Redundancy sensing, Responsibility-Sensitive Safety (RSS)-based driving policy and a new open collaboration model on Road Experience Management (REM) mapping technology.
