MIPS and Inova partner to create new robotics reference platform for physical AI systems

MIPS, a developer of compute technologies for autonomous edge platforms, has partnered with German semiconductor company Inova Semiconductors to create a new robotics control reference platform aimed at accelerating the development of humanoid robots and other physical AI systems.

The platform combines MIPS’ RISC-V-based processors with Inova’s high-speed data communication technology to provide a scalable architecture for robotics applications that require real-time control, AI processing, and secure connectivity.

According to the companies, the platform is designed as a custom system-on-chip (SoC) solution capable of supporting the full “sense-think-act-communicate” chain required for advanced robotic systems. Ai2 claims breakthrough in training robots entirely in simulation

The Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence (Ai2) says it has achieved a milestone in robotics by demonstrating that robots trained entirely in simulation can perform tasks in the real world without additional training or real-world demonstrations.

The result challenges a long-held assumption in robotics that systems trained in virtual environments must still be fine-tuned with physical robot data before they can operate reliably in real environments.

According to Ai2, its researchers showed that sufficiently large and diverse simulated training environments can produce robot control models capable of transferring directly to real machines – a concept known as “zero-shot sim-to-real transfer”. Neura Robotics and TUM launch €17 million RoboGym to train humanoid robots for physical AI

Neura Robotics, in collaboration with the Munich Institute of Robotics and Machine Intelligence (MIRMI) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), is launching Europe’s largest training center for Physical AI: the TUM RoboGym (powered by Neura).

The partners are starting with 2,300 m², with plans to expand the space in the near future. Located at the TUM Convergence Center at Munich Airport, a large fleet of humanoid robots will begin training under real-world conditions from mid-2026 onward, marking a major milestone for scaling intelligent machines and strengthening Europe’s technological sovereignty.

MassRobotics, AWS, and Nvidia launch second cohort of physical AI fellowship

MassRobotics, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Nvidia have announced the second cohort of the Physical AI Fellowship, a program designed to support robotics startups developing artificial intelligence systems for real-world machines.

The virtual program provides technical guidance, computing resources, and access to a global robotics ecosystem to help startups develop and scale “physical AI” technologies. The initiative builds on the inaugural fellowship cohort launched in late 2025.

The 2026 cohort includes nine startups working across sectors such as agriculture, construction, renewable energy, industrial automation, logistics, teleoperation, robotics data infrastructure, and humanoid robotics. Rhoda AI has announced its public launch after 18 months in stealth, unveiling FutureVision, a new approach to robotic intelligence based on video-predictive control and designed to operate beyond controlled laboratory demonstrations and into real-world environments.

The company also announced it has raised $450 million in Series A funding to accelerate development and industrial deployment.

Traditional industrial robots perform well in structured environments but remain largely limited to pre-programmed trajectories. RLWRLD raises $26 million, bringing total funding to $41 million

RLWRLD, a physical AI company developing robotics foundation models – software intelligence trained directly in real industrial environments – has closed a Seed 2 funding round, bringing its total seed investment to approximately $41 million.

The latest round raised approximately $26 million, following a $15 million Seed 1 round. The company said the new funding was driven not solely by capital needs but by a strategic push to expand its coalition of industry-based strategic investors (SIs) as demand for collaborative deployments accelerates.

The Seed 2 round includes financial investors Headline Asia, a Silicon Valley-based global venture capital firm, and Z Venture Capital Corporation, the corporate venture arm of Z Holdings – the merged entity of Yahoo Japan and LINE. MIT study finds AI agents ‘increasingly capable of performing complex tasks with limited human involvement’

Artificial intelligence systems known as “AI agents” are becoming increasingly capable of carrying out complex digital tasks with minimal human supervision, according to a new research project from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The 2025 AI Agent Index, compiled by MIT researchers, analyzes 30 prominent agentic AI systems and documents how they are built, deployed, and used across software ecosystems.

According to the project, “agentic AI systems are increasingly capable of performing complex tasks with limited human involvement,” reflecting a shift from simple chat-based assistants toward systems that can interact directly with software tools, websites, and enterprise platforms. MIT study suggests computing power – not ‘secret sauce’ – drives most AI model breakthroughs

A new study by researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology suggests that the rapid improvement of large language models is driven primarily by access to massive computing power rather than secret proprietary techniques developed by individual AI companies.

The paper, titled Is there “Secret Sauce” in Large Language Model Development?, analyzes 809 large language models released between October 2022 and March 2025 to understand what factors are responsible for improvements in AI capabilities.

The researchers examined benchmark performance and training data for the models and attempted to separate the sources of progress into four components: the amount of training compute used, shared algorithmic progress across the industry, developer-specific techniques, and model-specific design choices. Deloitte expands partnership with Nvidia to develop physical AI solutions for industry

Deloitte has announced an expansion of its collaboration with Nvidia to develop new physical AI solutions aimed at accelerating the adoption of intelligent systems in real-world industrial environments.

The initiative focuses on technologies such as digital twins, computer vision, edge computing and robotics, combining Deloitte’s engineering and industry expertise with Nvidia’s AI and simulation platforms.

According to Deloitte, the solutions will be built using libraries from Nvidia Omniverse and are designed to help organizations simulate operations, analyze physical environments and deploy intelligent machines in production.
