How AI Navigation is Improving the Performance of Robotic Pool Cleaners

June 29, 2026 by Sam Francis

Robotic pool cleaners used to be judged mostly by suction, brushes, and how much debris they could collect. Those things still matter, but they are no longer the whole performance story.

The bigger shift is navigation.

A pool robot that moves randomly may clean some areas well and miss others. It may repeat the same route, struggle near steps, or leave the waterline looking unfinished. That is why AI navigation is becoming a core part of robotic pool cleaner performance. It helps the machine understand the pool as a space, not just a container of water. Optima brings in robots to improve cleaning standards at major airports in Spain

May 19, 2026 by David Edwards

Cleaning services in airports operate in one of the most demanding environments in the industry, with continuous activity 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and a high volume of passenger traffic.

Ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety, and quality in this context requires solutions capable of delivering efficiency, reliability, and constant adaptation to a dynamic environment.

To meet this challenge, Optima Global, an integrated services company, has implemented an operating model based on technological innovation and the combination of human resources and autonomous robotics across several key airports in Spain: Barcelona, Seville, Málaga, Alicante, Valencia, Menorca, and Ibiza. Georgia Tech team designs robot guide dog to assist the visually impaired

September 17, 2025 by Sam Francis

People who are visually impaired and cannot afford or care for service animals might have a practical alternative in a robotic guide dog being developed at Georgia Tech.

Before launching its prototype, a research team within Georgia Tech’s School of Interactive Computing, led by Professor Bruce Walker and Assistant Professor Sehoon Ha, is working to improve its methods and designs based on research within blind and visually impaired (BVI) communities.

“There’s been research on the technical aspects and functionality of robotic guide dogs, but not a lot of emphasis on the aesthetics or form factors,” says Avery Gong, a recent master’s graduate who worked in Walker’s lab. “We wanted to fill this gap.” [Read more…] about Georgia Tech team designs robot guide dog to assist the visually impaired
