Jack in the Box to pilot Miso’s robots in its burger joints

Miso Robotics has agreed a partnership with Jack in the Box to begin a piloted test that will install its Flippy 2 and Sippy core product lines in one of the national restaurant chain’s standalone locations, with possible plans for further integration in the months ahead.

Built on the Miso Platform, both products leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision and data analytics to maximize efficiency in the commercial kitchen.

Miso Robotics unveils ‘faster, more customizable’ burger-flipping robot

Miso Robotics has unveiled the newest model of Flippy, its flagship burger-flipping robot.

Flippy 2 is based on “key learnings and feedback” from Miso’s partner White Castle, who installed the original Flippy to a location in the Chicagoland area in September 2020 and plans to expand to additional locations once the pilot is over.

Miso says Flippy 2 takes over the work for an entire fry station and performs “more than twice as many food preparation tasks” compared to the previous version including basket filling, emptying and returning. Miso Robotics partners with Lancer Worldwide to launch automated beverage dispenser

Miso Robotics, a robotics and automation startup specializing in the foodservice industry, is partnering with Lancer Worldwide, a beverage dispenser manufacturer which works with the world’s top food and beverage brands, to build “an intelligence-backed, automated beverage dispenser that will bring enhanced functionality for a future-focused commercial kitchen”, according to the companies.

At a time when the quick-service restaurant (QSR) industry is facing record labor shortages, operators are looking for ways to streamline operations, cut costs and implement solutions that drive a better and faster customer service experience. The pandemic drastically shifted the paradigm, creating new models for operator revenue streams that relied on drive-thru, takeout and delivery more so than ever before.

While 60 to 70 percent of certain QSR sales came from the drive-thru lane pre-pandemic, as Covid spread, major QSRs experienced a jump as high as 90 percent.1 Yet, the new delivery and drive-thru model have made the always-critical need of speed and efficiency an even bigger challenge as volume increases and staff decreases have added minutes to the clock for order completion. CaliBurger’s ‘Flippy’ robot gets $3 million to flip burgers

A burger-flipping robot developed by Cali Group and Miso Robotics has received $3.1 million in financing from strategic investors including Acacia Research and Match Robotics. (See video below.)

Miso was co-founded and funded by Cali Group, which owns the Caliburger chain of fast food restaurants across the US. The company is currently specialising in automation for the catering industry.
